Love your vids. question. do you miss not having a live well?
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 5 жыл бұрын
Howard, I have a live well that came with the TT. It seems to be a good one but I just do not fish that way. Most of the time I am using artificial baits although I do want to fish with live bait and will do that some day. When I was guiding I used live bait often and have many techniques for that, I just do not use bait that much now. I could also use the live well to bring home bass that I catch and re-stock the lakes in my community but I have not taken the time to do that either. To answer your question, I do not miss my live well enough to take the time and use the one I have that was made for the Twin Troller. Gerry

William, welcome to the Twin Troller family. What State do you live in? I am in Central Florida. What sizes of water will you be using the Twin Troller? I fish many lakes here from small to large and the Twin Troller does them all. Naturally, on a large lake in a small boat I watch the weather but if you do that you will be fine. Let us know how it goes for you and catch a big one for all of us. Gerry

Sorry for the late reply... I am in Houston, TX. I have a few lakes that are about an hour from my home that I hope to explore. I am a new boat owner and enjoy your videos and advice. I recently reached out to Twin Troller regarding water in the hull. Have you ever had this issue? If so do you have any advice on how to drain the boat? Than you!

William, Sorry for the late reply I just noticed your question. I have not had any problem with water in the hull so I cannot give you any advice on that subject but Frank Jones should be able to advise you at Twin Troller H.Q. Gerry

William Woodard. My Twin Troller was delivered on Feb. 28, 2019. It has a plug on each side near the top edge roughly centered between bow and stern. My friend’s Twin Troller doesn’t have these. I called Twin Troller and spoke to Frank Jones about it. He told me that water has been finding its way into some Twin Trollers, so the solution was to install these plugs, and lean the boat against the side of a building so it can drain. Frank told me these plugs can be installed on older Twin Trollers if needed.

Steve, it sounds like you are making great progress before the water thaws this spring in Illinois. You will be ready on day one when the weather allows you to launch the Twin Troller. Right now there are fish waiting for you to catch them, take their photos, and make them famous for all the world to see. 😀 Gerry

HI Jerry, Thank you for your great ideas for the Twin Troller. My question is; Where do you stow your landing net for easy quick access. I do fine on the deck until I put a cooler behind. Thank you for your suggestions.
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 5 жыл бұрын
Terry, I do not use a landing net. I use a Boga Grip type fish grabber with a large float attached in case I knock it overboard. There are landing nets that fold up but even those seem to be problematic storing them without the net getting caught on everything. The grip I use is shorter than a net but it grabs the fish by the lip and works well on toothy critters also. Gerry

Sir, thank you for taking the time to provide these videos for those of us who are new to Twin Trollers or possibly considering purchasing one. I really like how you have created storage for those items that you want close at hand and off the deck. I did discover, however, that the website address for the web storage netting is really TackleWebs.com. I know, picky, picky. But I thought I might save your viewers a few minutes looking for these items. Thanks again, sir! Keep on TT'ing!
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 6 жыл бұрын
Lou, thank you for the nice comments. Yes, the storage items you refer to are made by TackleWebs.com and are made specifically for the Hobie Cat Pro Angler kayak. I used to have one before then decided a kayak was not nearly as good as a Twin Troller, so I sold the kayak but kept the TackleWebs and found a use for them on my Twin Troller. Gerry

Gerry, Have you considered whether or not an anchor trolley (like the ones used on Kayaks) would be of any benefit on a TT? Thanks for all your interesting videos!
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 4 жыл бұрын
Ron, Before owning my TT I owned a Hobie Cat Pro Angler, fishing kayak. Owning that kayak made me appreciate what owning a TT is all about. When I sold the kayak I kept many of the things that went with it so I still have the trolly, a stake out pole, rod lanyards, etc.. I do not sit in one place for long periods of time fishing so I never needed an anchor. I just use the TT motors to keep me where I want to be. If I do want to anchor I can use the stake out pole or install the trolly system, but in over five years I never found the need to do that. Gerry

Don’t think I’ve already asked this but do you travel down the road with the Plano box sitting in that rack?
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 3 жыл бұрын
Mike, I found if I leave the Plano box in the rack under the seat it vibrates and falls out on the way. I remove that and any other items in that rack to the tow vehicle and when I arrive where I am going I put them back in. I suppose you could also use a short bungee cord or something like that to keep them in the rack but I found removing them to the tow vehicle is simple enough. Gerry

Hey Jerry, are there any others ways that you’ve seen on securing your rods while traveling on the road or on the water? Nice video, I made some under the storage racks then used paracord to fill in the gaps between the pvc. They turned out pretty good. I have a cut sheet and fittings used that I’ll send to you via email to share on your channel if anyone is interested.

J Bay, i have a tie down strap across the rear on the boat just north of the battery box that holds the boat to the trailer. That holds the rear of all rods in the rod tray. I loop the pedal wires around my two front rod holders and that also secures the front of the rods. They cannot fall out when trailering so I do not do anything else to hold the rods in the TT. Gerry

Hey Jerry, I'm a new Twin troller. Do you have any suggestions for mounting a small fire extinguisher on a twin troller ,?
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Bill, Congratulations on the new boat and welcome to the family! A fire extinguisher is a must on any boat. In many of my videos you can see a white fire extinguisher in my boat. On the front side of the base where the battery is located I mounted one horizontally right there. It is very accessible but not in the way. I mounted the bracket that came with the fire extinguisher in such a way that the finished product is slightly off the floor so I can clean under it and water and any debris can flow under there too. Have a great time with the new boat! Gerry

My answer in based on the Lowrance Fish finder that I added to my boat that has GPS. When I am fishing alone the trolling motors will produce. around 2.5 mph.. If I run on just the. Honda Outboard it will do 3.75 mph. If I use both together it will do just under 5 mph. I am not a small guy so i am sure that makes a difference compared to a smaller person.

Hi Jerry, can you please share the dimensions of the storage frames you made underneath the seats? I want to make a same one. Thanks...
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 8 жыл бұрын
Carl, Everything is 1/2" PVC glued then painted glossy black Rustolium spray paint. The following measurements are from the outside to outside edges of the fittings since they stick out farther than the PVC pipe. The rack directly under the seat dimensions is as follows: From front to back it is 13.5 inches, from side to side it is 18.5 inches, and the part that sticks up across the rear so items do not fall out the back is the height of a "T" with a 90 degree elbow on top of that or 3.75 inches high. The side racks are 15.5" wide and 8.5" from top to bottom. The top left and right corners are kinda rounded off with two 45 degree fittings to roughly match the Tackle Webs were they are rounded off on the top corners. I hope I explained this well enough that you understand my directions. If you want better pictures of what you are trying to make you can email me at lunker1@cfl.rr.com and I will send you some clearer photos. I hope you like the racks and thanks for asking, Gerry

Gerry, what is the brand name of the canisters you have for gasoline?
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 6 жыл бұрын
Charley, it is a 30 oz MSR FUEL BOTTLE. I got it on Amazon If you do a search for it there you can find it, or possibly other suppliers, when I bought it Amazon was the best price. They work great. They have a mouth that does not require a funnel to pour into the Honda 2.3 on the Twin Troller X-10 or any other outboard like that. Follow the hint I gave: I occasionally lube the O-ring in the cap to make it easier to open the bottle. I use Super Lube which is a synthetic lubricant. Just a light coating is all that it needs. You do not want to be on the water and cannot get the bottle open with the engine is out of fuel. I hope that helps. Gerry

I want to use them for two Plano guide series 3600 boxes that are 10.75" x 7.25" x 1.75" and want to be sure that they fit. I think this is the same size boxes you have on both sides right? Thank you kindly.
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 7 жыл бұрын
Zack Tumlinson, yes that is the size and they are Plano boxes but I removed the sticker so I don't remember the model number if you are obtaining the tacklewebs to put them in remember you are asking for the ones that are designed to be used on a Hobie Cat Pro Angler kayak. They were made just for Hobie Cat

Hi Jerry I am thinking about purchasing a twin troller this spring. I think I have watched all of your videos on KZbin. Thank you for putting them on they have been very helpful. I know you said in some of your videos that you are previously from upstate New York which is where I currently live. I am not to far from the adirondacks and would be using the twin troller on a bunch of different lakes up there. Nothing too huge but some of them maybe two thousand acres. I know you said you take yours out on some large lakes just wondering what size are some of the larger lakes you take yours out on where you still feel safe doing it.
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim, I think you will like the Twin Troller for Upstate NY. I am originally from the Latham area but had a camp myself in Brant Lake (just north of Lake George) and family still have camps there as well as Old Forge. I visit them at their camps every summer and would love to have the Twin Troller with me when I go, but have not bothered to tow it that far. I often fish on the Kissimmee Chain in Central Florida as well as other lakes within an hour and a half of there. Some are large (over ten miles long) and others are quite small. I feel comfortable on all of the lakes but do not go out on the large ones when wind is approaching 15 mph. With that said, on those lakes there are coves I can go in when the lain lake is rough. After the weather consideration I watch out for other boaters. I often fish in heavy (marsh like) cover and bass boats frequently operate at high speeds in those areas. I make a habit of standing and even waving at those boats to make sure they see me. I have almost been run over while in full sized bass boats by others passing by at high speed. I have also had shotgun pellets hit the boat I was in during a tournament by duck fisherman while a full sized bass boat. We were in was in open water. The hunters told me it was my fault I was there while they were hunting as if they had a right to shoot in my direction even if they knew I was there. To summarize, I would be comfortable in the Twin Troller on Lake George in Upstate NY if the weather was good. You do not have dense cover to fish in like we do here but I would still watch out for the bad boat drivers there also. What area are you from? Let us know if you get the TT, you will not regret it. Gerry

Thanks for the advice and the quick response Gerry. Trying to gather all the information I can and its helpful to talk with folks who have experience with this boat. I am in Mechanicville NY just a little north of Latham. I fish more for smallmouth than I do largemouth and I think the twin troller would be a great little boat to hit some of the smallmouth lakes in this area. As you would know there are many of them.We have had a real cold winter this year so I'm afraid we are going to be frozen over for quite sometime. Gives me a few more months to research the twin troller anyway thanks for the help I will let you know if I end up getting one.

Hi Jerry Nice information. Thanks for sharing. I just ordered a Twin Troller 2 weeks ago. An online outboard dealer cautioned me that 2018 Honda 2.3 is now made in China and encouraged me to consider the Tohatsu 3.5hp. Any thoughts?
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 6 жыл бұрын
kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKXcmXqfi5J3ors has that motor on his TT. I have no experience with the Tohatsu 3.5 he may be able to answer your questions about that motor. I would be concerned with the weight of that motor compared to the Honda because there is only so much weight a small boat can carry and I have lots of tackle and rods extra fuel on board. I am not saying that motor is what I would buy if I had looked into other motors. Welcome to the Twin Troller family and I hope you find the time to post some videos or photos of your TT. Gerry

Im thinking of selling my kayak and buying a twin troller But i fish in saltwater only Twin troller good for saltwater?
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 6 жыл бұрын
Kendo Cruz, the Twin Troller is set up to do both. In other words the salt would not bother any metals on the boat. It depends on where you intend to go in salt water. Around marinas or bays or other calm water areas it would do well. I assume you watched the videos of David from Twin Troller (Freedom Electric Marine) when is is fishing in Mosquito Lagoon? If you watch the weather and go in water that is fairly stable, just like you would do in fresh water, you can do well with the TT in both waters. I hope that helps, Gerry
