Very good job seemed to work fine now you will be able to fish your lake. Is there any chance you could use a small lawn tractor to help put it in and out that way you don't take a chance of hurting your back. Your home is beautiful!

RC, toward the end of the video you see my tractor next to the TT. I pulled the TT up the hill by hand just to show I could but in the future I will be connecting the rope to the tractor. I may also build a bracket to connect the nose of the TT to the tractor to move it to and from the garage. Gerry

@@gemfaceter, I do not think my mower could pull the TT up the hill. The manufacturer warns about pulling things with it. It is a lawn mower and I think I would need a lawn tractor to tow like that but time will tell. I have a welder and plan to make a bracket to lay the nose of the TT on behind the mower to pull it on level ground at least. Gerry

Tip: Consider a nylon rigging strap (for towing) from harbor freight, or rock climbing runner or length of 1" climbing webbing in a loop will stay in place on your tree, and be much easier on the bark over time. Add a carabiner for quick connecting your pulley. You can also drop the strap slack to the ground when not in use so it doesn't look unsightly, and snug it up when winching.

I plan to pull my boat with a riding lawnmower around the grassy yard instead to include steeper grades, but the mower may need tire chains to go up the grade due to light tread on the tires.

Interesting video showing now you used the dolly in your unique situation. Over the years owners have sent us photos of the TT being pulled by a golf cart and even a couple of mower towing shots. The design of the dolly was it get the wheels as far under the rear of the boat as possible to provide a better balance point for the lifting and moving of the boat. Because of this, depending on the HP of your mower I don't think you would have much of a problem pulling it up your hill. I'll be interested in seeing your mower tow bar. Tight lines, and thanks for putting this together.

Good Job, Sir. Here's what your problem was @ 29:00 . The dolly has wheels/rollers on the front, and stoppers/soft wheels/rollers on the back. What you need to do is push DOWN on the dolly handle while pulling the boat TOWARDS YOU with your hand on the transom. This will disengage the stoppers on the dolly and engage the wheels. Give it a try. Also, I recognized the transducer issue early on. When you get close to the edge of the back, let the handle go HIGH and the rod will go low. Give that a try as well. I have the transducer on my boat and it's not a problem, once you know how to properly put the dolly on & off. Last thing. It looks like you had the battery in the boat. Worst case scenario, remove the battery and the dolly goes under the boat much easier. Batteries are 60 lbs+. Like I said, worst case scenario. Take the battery out, put the dolly in place, put the battery back in. Sneak peek... I already know how to put the dolly on while in deep water. That's my next dolly video :)
@LunkerFishing
@LunkerFishing 5 жыл бұрын
Your video says to push the dolly forward while pushing down and pull back on the transom at the same time. I tried to do that but the dolly will not roll forward in the thick grass as I push the handle down and pull back on the transom. That left me with only pulling back on the transom but pulling back on the transom while pushing down on the handle may stop the TT from rolling backward. I will try that next time. Once I get the dolly under the TT to the point you see in the video at 26:38 it was not terribly difficult to pull back on the transom to connect the hook on the handle. The difficult part, that I did not show in the video, was to lift the TT and get the dolly under enough to the stage you see in the video. You installed the dolly in the water but I would be in over my head in deep water if I tried to do that. I have no choice but to install the dolly on the TT when it is out of the water and that is why I pulled it to the top of the hill where the ground was semi-flat.
@SmallWaterTV
@SmallWaterTV 5 жыл бұрын
@@LunkerFishing Understand. Clearly, your greatest challenge was the grass. If the ground conditions make it hard to push the dolly under the boat, technique can only go so far.

Hey Gerry! I had just placed an order for one of these and thanks for such a good demo regarding this new dolly. Hey one of the things I had noticed that you didn't do but Dave did in his video was to attach the hook and one of the pulleys around the tree then one pulley to the boat. This allows you to walk down the hill toward your boat using your weight and gravity to pull the boat out of the water. In other words since you are walking and pulling the rope away from the tree and walking down hill gravity is helping you thus making it easier. You should try that and see if it is easier. I also bought a second dolly from my local Costco to put under the front of the boat that way you can push it in either direction. In case you are wondering what dolly its the $99 one that stands up tall but is collapsable to convert to a flat long dolly. The end even folds flat wich should be ideal to fit this under the front of the boat.

Denis, I understand your point. That truly was the first time I was using the new dolly so there was no practice run. What you saw was me trying to work things out. Hi Gerry, do you think baloon wheels will work on this dolly? I want to launch from a couple of sand beaches, each around 50 to 100 yards from the parking lot (it's only a bay, not the open ocean). The stocked dolly wheels would just sink into the sand.
@LunkerFishing

I added two extra tires to make four total on my dolly just to go across a thick lawn. I would not say it works well. With that said,” I am not sure the balloon tires would work but since they are taller tires and much wider they may work. If you had access to borrow some of those tires it would be a great experiment and I would like to know the results. You may need to use a longer axle and taller tires may interfere with the boat. Good luck! Gerry

Waited for this final episode on the TT Dolly and if it works for you on the grass and especially if it results in a lot of fish it's worth it. I like your pully system. It's similar to what we used to pull vehicles out of the mud when I was in the Army. They called them Snatch Blocks or hooks I believe. If I used the pulley system hooked to a tree I would use my lawn tractor and pull it up in one steady pull cause after fishing for a few hours I don't think I would want to pull it up the hill. Did you get any grass in the motor guards.

Pete, I have found an easy way to remove the TT from the water but it is then difficult to get the TT back on the dolly. I have dragged the TT up the hill behind my house from the water using my lawn tractor. You could use a rope to your tow vehicle/trailer is the vehicle is parked close by and pull it out of the water but only do that if you can slide it across some smooth grass. I found it difficult to get the TT back on the dolly because my lawn is plush and thick and the dolly will not roll well under the TT. My solution may not be good for your situation. Gerry

I have a subscription to TubeBuddy and after extensive research it showed that title has the best weighted and unweighted scores. I just researched that phrase you gave me in the Keyword Explorer and it does not do well however, I will change it to that right now and see what happens. I stocked all nine of our lakes with bait (thread fin shad, golden shiners, and bluegill) when the community was new and left the lakes alone for a year or two until the bait came well established. Then I started to add bass to the lakes but the largest was a 6.25 lb and most were 1-3 pounds. The bass took off and I caught some in the ten pound range but then others here saw me catching them and killed the bass for a cheap meal even though there are catch and release signs all over the community. Now we do not have large bass anymore but it is still a place to fish from the shore and catch ten bass in an hour on a good day but only smaller bass. For a couple of dollars you can get a fish sandwich at McDonalds but the big bass we had were priceless to most fisherman and especially kids. You can't fix stupid or greed.
