Guys, just a suggestion. What if you put 2 smaller hood catches it would free up a lot of space, if it is possible let it work on 1 lever. Fantastic work you guys are going!!

Love it, love it, love it! I always wanted to do a front motor 2nd gen. Corvair (& a mid-motor 1st gen., Ala the Crown V-8 conversion for 2nd gen. cars-I had a 65 with that setup, the transaxle being the weak link). I love the body mod's. Having been a machinist (retired-I'm 75)/ mechanic (m/c's & cars), I can really appreciate all the "Eye-ball" engineering and recognizing of potential problems that could arise trying to package all that in that confined space, (obviously NOT your 1st rodeo)-GREAT JOB!! Can't wait to see the finished product and the E-ticket ride it surely will provide! YEE-HA!!!! P.S. And "yes", I use to be a "Corvair Freak" along time ago- besides the '65 mid-ship, I've owned 2 Rampsides, a '62 and two '65's Monza's, a '66 Corsa and last, but not least, a'60 VW bug with a built-to-shit Corvair motor (again w/ Crown adapter kit) that I finally transplanted into a '60 VW panel bus that ran 17's(!) at a late '70's Bug In at OCIR (Calif.), the reduction gear boxes being the limiting factor to getting a good launch.😅 Just Say"n....Keep up the Great work!

Well, I guess I watched this too late but here's my 2 cents for what it's worth. As @ez87gn56 stated is ditch the center hood latch on both the hood and where the grill would be. Then use the new style flush mount latches on the sides near the fenders. It would also clean up the hood and grill area while giving more room to fab. Just a thought. Love the concept of this build.

On your next vehicle be great to see you guys are able to come up with a really cool different direction when it comes with totally Old Skool type of 60s car with out having used LS engines or turbo setup and computer stuff and make looks like it's in the future with tunnel air rams. Otherwise, keep up with your great work. Love you guys. You make my day better when I get the chance to watch you guys. Because of that you guys give me some different ideas for me to do. When checking those tight clearance (any place on a custom build)) or, like you did with the hood and those pipes you might want to invest in one of those camera endoscopes that have flexible cables on them. They're easily hooked up to cell phones too.

After reading all the comments from the fan club let me just say the first mistake was in not calling Race Part Solutions for the plumbing parts. They offer many custom transitions and specialty parts that could have made this easier. At times looks like the blind leading the blind. Cool car though!

This is an American car. You had a good platform, for mid-engine twin turbo V8 but........... Space is your enemy. Making this vehicle a, "wide body", would help you in both cooling ports, and plumbing room. Cantilever front suspension, get the coilovers out of the way. Now you have space for the inter-coolers,(in the extension of, quarter panels) You guys hooked me with part 1 of this, I subscribed. Watched a few of other ones, very very interesting, enjoyed them all!!! 👍 You have unique answers for difficult questions. Your fabrication is top of the line. Almost through part 2 this Sunday. Looking forward to more great videos, err podcasts. Got my attention!!! 👍

@rudyt4912
@rudyt4912 Ай бұрын
OH HELL NO ! 🤦🏽‍♂️ Just because they can cram it all in up front under the hood doesn't mean that they should've. HEAT, HEAT, HEAT !!! Engine maintenance will be fun too. Remote mounting the turbos in the rear of the car is the better option. Transmission should've been rear mounted too for weight distribution benefits, C5 Corvette is the power train blueprint. Their skills & ingenuity are top notch. Incredible execution on a bad design decision.

Anyone can put an LS in , be creative build the original motor to have about 450-500 hp. then you have something. The Corvair was a great design when it was done and in my opinion you don’t need all those body mods. You’re trying to turn a Corvair into a Camaro❗️🇺🇸
@MuShinnen
@MuShinnen 7 күн бұрын
You're nuts if you think the Corvair engine could handle that much horsepower. Even built the max they could be pushed to is around 200 hp. They were also totally air cooled. Their original high end stock performance was 140 hp back in the day. Not only could the engine not handle that kind of horsepower and the torque that'd come with it, the transaxle and frame couldn't either. The bodywork will look great. It won't look like any other Corvair on the road, and it certainly won't be mistaken for a Camaro.

@vandyFixer
@vandyFixer Ай бұрын
Probably for a number of reasons... 1) That size engine may not fit with a transmission/transaxle that will handle the power. 2) The weight distibution will be more even, less likely to swap ends like a Porsche or an old VW beetle. 3) It will be as cool as hell parked next to another Corvair...quite a flex. There may be other reasons but that was all I could come up with.

Why not use a trans axle and put the engine in the back where it is supposed to be in a Corvair. Might as well have just built a Camaro if you are putting engine in front.
@MuShinnen
@MuShinnen 7 күн бұрын
1. Because a client is paying them to do that. 2. Because you can't use just any transaxle and engine combo if you want the car to maintain it's interior. That's why the original engine sat they way it did in the back. It was the only way it would fit. Feel free to build your Corvair however you want.
