What are your thoughts on Ryan's E30 build and what would you have done if it was yours?

I think his turbos are just fine, they have drained all their oil out of the cores and the dry bearings probably feel a bit sloppy. I doubt they have copped that kind of wear in such a short amount of time... 😁 Other than that, I would have plumbed a proper exhaust system to make it a nicer street car. The placement of those turbos and the exhaust dumps are a little lazy... Believe me, I understand the difference in fab time and effort, I'm 21 yrs qualified as a mechanic in Aust- that being said, it"s also why I believe it was a little lazy... Other than that, sick ride... 👌

Wow, those diff gears and the tall gears in that trans- that's going to have some serious top end on the highway... Turbo cars don't get hurt as badly by tall diff gears as an N/A motor... Maybe one day he can think about upgrading the rear end... A nice little 9" swap would be nice, and help it put the power down

Cool build I had the same problems with my air ride until I got Tapered Sleeve Air Bags
@danielbrealey29243 жыл бұрын
@Kris Nicholson My BB turbos I've used on my Skyline have lasted years, I'm on my 3rd Garrett- none were replaced because they were worn. They were just upgraded for bigger and better units each time (owned the car for 15+ yrs). There is no reason a BB turbo would wear that fast unless there.was some kind of problem with oil supply, imo... Maybe a cheap knock off Chinese turbo, but most are a lot better than that as well...

I tell you one of the best suspension setups of a e30 is the h&r cup kit. No it’s not a “coilover” setup but it JUST WORKS. Full road coarse cars have been running that setup for years! I run it on my 89 i and I’ve track dayed it, auto crossed it and generally just beat the tar out of it.

Great video. You sound like a very nice honest guy Ryan. I also have an 87 coupe which is very close to having my LS2 dropped in with a TR6060. What did you do for the diff? Not quite as much HP, but fairly close (NA). It's nice to know it's not a handful to drive. I was a little concerned hahaha. Good job Ryan
