Having had religion rammed down my throat growing up, I was naturally familiar with shame and guilt, until the rational adult in me made me reasses and I left my faith. I was raised Muslim but I can relate to so many of your stories and I'm enjoying the podcast so much. I hope you both continue this for a long time.

I would love an episode with the story of Grant leaving the church/deconstructing and what happened to make him stop being a pastor, if he's comfortable with that of course. I really love the podcast so much. This is the only podcast that I watch, and I can't wait for the new episode to come out every week! I can't support on Patreon right now, but hopefully I can once it's up and running!

This podcast is so validating and relatable every week. My dad once told a 93 yo old lady in my church that she’s going to hell bc she voted for JFK. And I think the first fact I knew about MLK was the mistress thing which is funny bc my mom was actively someone else in the church’s mistress. slay mama boots

1. Learning that Bar Redacted is not the real name of the bar while simultaneously learning the true name of the bar is an unlocked new quest that I didn’t know I needed. 2. I love a self aware, accountable queens. Darby, being accountable for their behavior in the past is so HOOOOT! 🥹 3. Free Palestine 4. I am fully, fully invested in learning both of you journeys surviving Christianity.

Another fabulous episode! 🩷 Grant you could totally lean in to podcasting and create a second podcast! You could talk more in depth about life and healing after leaving the church, about deconstructing an ideology you were born into, about your experiences as a pastor, about growing up, Christianity in general (there’s a million different topics within that alone), and maybe some interviews with guests, etc. There are so many directions you could take it, the possibilities are endless, and I truly believe a lot of Twinuendo listeners would support you, as many of us relate to you and enjoy your stories. You are very talented and a joy to listen to 🥰

I would throw 5-10 dollars at your patreon for bible discussion classes. I was a very OCD Catholic child, religion meant a lot to me then and I spent a lot of time in my young adulthood as an angry atheist, reading scripture to show people they were hypocrites. I'm very interested in a space where I can speak and listen on Christian culture and scripture from a place of compassion, study, and at least one part arming us to have conversations with the Christians in our lives.

Oh the existential fear I had (as a closeted trans girlie) when I would wake up and my house was empty and I was almost positive I had been LEFT BEHIND ~dun dun dunnn~ I had always had a feeling that I didn't fit the picture of what the "non-denomination bible church" that I grew up in considered "saved." Funny enough, much like Grant I became a worship pastor - Unlike Grant I WAS the gay one (well queer) so I eventually left the church and then when I transitioned I got to be like Drew and go no-contact with a bunch of family. Ill be honest its WILD hearing yall talk about your experiences because growing up in Texas the christian nationalism was so similarly flavored to the kind both of you grew up with. I live on the west coast now, and when I tell people what the christian culture was/is like they are dumbfounded and are shocked and horrified, or its just really hard for them to believe it was really THAT bad and extreme.

Now THIS is what I want to hear more of. My god, the evil some so-called Christians impose on the rest of us. I knew Jerry Falwell was the scum of pond scum but the hypocrisy knew no bounds! And of course all these years later, so many of these charlatans now proclaim their love and understanding for Dr. King, their version being a toothless enuch of course.

Idk if both of your partners were with you during your big life changes (aka leaving mega church and bar redacted) but I specially wonder about Grant's wife because ik having similar religious beliefs is so important in Christian relationships, did yall happen to change your perspectives about the church simultaneously or how was this journey for Angela as well? Maybe she can be a special guest sometime if she's up for it :)
