I don't know if that makes any sense, but i find this podcast truly fascinating. Like we are experiencing the reconnection between two brothers with very different experiences and perspective in lives but still loving each other. This kind of relationship based on respect, comprehension, and love is really what this world needs to be made of. In the words of Lady Gaga: “Talented brilliant incredible amazing show stopping spectacular never the same, unique”

I think the vulnerability and honesty of both of you at the end of each episode is what we,at least I, connect with. And that’s not something that has to be shown on camera, but I appreciate so much. Because it’s real life. And seeing 2 people come back together in love is truly inspiring and gives me hope the same can happen with my family. Also thank you Grant for the bit about “churchy” people. It really resonated with me.

I just want you to know how much this episode helped me. Years ago, I used to work in a church with the youth group and I was often the one that most of the teenagers came and opened up to because I had had a rather interesting past that involved a lot of abuse and drugs and just general not happiness. After rehab, I studied to become a minister and I found my own form of faith. One day, I was having a bad patch with my depression which the church was well aware of and I went to speak to my minister about it. The next day, I was asked to leave the church and not return and all the parents of the teenagers were phoned and told not to have any contact with me as I was a danger to them. I protested against this and was told “people like you end up abusing kids” It was the hardest and most difficult time in my life because I could not understand how the church could be like that when they knew my past, how hard I had worked and how much I gave to my youth group. I carried guilt with me for many, many years as truly believed that God was angry with me but as the years passed, I found my own sense of peace with my own understanding of God and believing that the word applied to me too. I still have my own faith but do not partake in a form of church going. Strange as it sounds, this just gave me some sense of peace so thank you thank you thank you very much

i worked at a coffee shop in a tiny texas town and this one dude was a regular. all 12 of his sons would come in 1 at a time and try to evangelize me ALL the time. i felt so much pity for these kids and teenagers who thought they could change my mind. but it was hilarious to watch them try
