Wisconsin Cheesehead here. The magic of ‘squeaky cheese’ curds is best when you stop at the cheese factory and pick up a bag of freshly made, still warm curds from the vat. A childhood delight that never goes away, no matter how old you are! Maybe I’m a bit spoiled growing up on fresh squeaky cheese, but once refrigerated it’s just not the same. I live in Wisconsin and we have cheese curds everywhere. The cheese factories deliver fresh curds to all the stores, gas station convenience stores , every day. The fresher they are, like the day their made, the squeakier they are. Enjoy❤❤

Yes, and they can leave them on the counter, so still no need to refrigerate unless out longer than 24 to 48 hrs. They don't spoil cause they are salted and has the whey drained from them, and both of these things act as a preservative..so don't rush them to the fridge for best taste and texture!

I heard the girls talk about monsters upstairs. They’re right at that age where they express fears that way. When my nieces and nephews were small, and worr😢about monsters, I’d fill a spray bottle with water and a little lemon juice, and put a label on it that said anti-monster spray. After we checked under the beds, the closets,and the corners,we’d spray them, and it worked like a charm. Off to bed they went!

Cheese curds do not need to be refrigerated right away. They only squeak when they are fresh, not after they’re refrigerated. We have a cheese factory a few miles away from us. The only time we have them melted, is when they are battered and deep fried. We usually use Monterey Jack cheese for nachos. That’s why we’re called “Cheese Heads” in Wisconsin.

Cute munching on the chips. I live about 20 miles north of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. It was so good to tune in and see the twins sampling good ole Wisconsin cheese curds! When you get them fresh, no refrigeration, they do indeed squeak in your mouth. That is considered the most desirable way to enjoy them.

With regards to squeaky doors since you mentioned it, reminds me of a time I went to my nephew's house to visit, he has a big house and many of the doors were squeaking, so he is very busy, and I thought what a nice surprise it would be if I took the squeak out of his doors. So, I got reached in my traveling bag (as he lives in another state) and I took out my travel size baby oil and went through the house squeezing the bottle on all the hinges on the doors that squeaked, it worked immediately. Any oil will do. I usually use wd40 at home.

I love their crunching. Guinevere liked hee cheese after Mom tried it.I cannot believe Anastasia would not eat cheese. She is usually a*cheese head*. Her foot found its way to the table. 🤭 I usually eat fried cheese curd. They are delicious & squeaky. Thanks for sharing. See you later tomorrow. 💕🤗

I've never eaten a cheese curd melted on chips. I'm in Minnesota. Eating them cold is where you get the squeak or you can bread them and deep fry them.

Xochitl brand Tortilla Chips makes a no salt added Tortilla Chip. They are amazing and preservative free I believe! We love them, because the flavor of the salsa, topping, etc. is allowed to come through, not just clouded by salt.

I grew up down the road from a “cheese factory” in Wisconsin too - we’d ride our bikes to get fresh curds on Saturday mornings :). Alicia, you pronounced Sheboygan perfectly!! It might be a texture thing for the Ana - curd is pretty chewy when it’s fresh (and especially when re-squeaked in the microwave)

Swiss Colony in Wisconsin has excellent cheese and you can also order it online too. We can only get the curds at their store as they no longer have them in the catalog but you can contact them and they might accommodate you. We're in California so we don't get to their store often enough only when we visit my family in Chicago. Enjoy!!😊🧀
