The saddest thing is when I was in China back in 2008 so many couples were adopted baby girls . What they didn’t know was that the families didn’t want to give their little girls up for adoption but they had to . They could only keep one child and they kept the boy to help on the farm. 😢
@aznmochibunny6 ай бұрын
Boys weren't kept to help with the farm. Boys were kept because they held value over girls because it is a long held belief all over Asia that boys continue the family legacy. That's why when push came to shove, girls were given up instead.

My family adopted my first Chinese sister back in 2008, and we were definitely aware of what was going on. My sister was abandoned on the steps of the orphanage. They actually had to make abandonment legal in China because mothers were throwing their babies away. We have a lot of empathy for what was going on there, and the families who still won’t get a chance to have more kids due to age even though the one child law is gone now. Also, there were ten families in our group when we went that year, and half of them adopted girls while the other half adopted boys. Boys get the shaft there was well.

This is such a great & touching story! Reminds me of my adoption/meeting bio family story. I was adopted by my adoptive parents at 3 days old but met my biological family when I was 11. It was an open adoption luckily and I initiated the meeting. My adoptive parents understood I felt lost & needed to find them and experience my culture. I have 4 biological siblings, one older and 3 younger but didn’t know about them since I was the only one put up for adoption. I am lucky to have grown up with my siblings from being a tween since we live 30 mins away. It’s a blessing to have both sets of my parents and my siblings at the dinner table. My bio mom was looking at another family that lived in Colorado that wanted a closed adoption so I could never look for them. It’s a miracle it worked out and my parents and siblings all get along wonderfully! Im 26 now and I don’t know what I’d do without them!
