Delightful. Song was written by Johnny’s friend, the poet Shel Silverstein. This is first record I ever got, my dad drove me to the record store when it came out. I was not yet 5. I still have it even if Johnny and my dad have passed on. Thanks, guys Ps - meeting Cash and being hugged by him felt like being touched by the hand of God. Definitely a highlight in a life well lived,

My father who has also crossed over to the other side camp has also given me a love for Johnny Cash. I remember riding in a bus with him to Alaska with the 8-track in, and listening to Cash, Holly, Lynn, Jones among many others. This was one of his favorites to play, besides Pink Carnation

If you like this, written by Shel Silverstein, you should listen to "Cover of the Rolling Stone" and "Put Another Log on the Fire"--both by Silverstein, and both "stories" that are very funny!

I was 3 in 1969. My parents played this album a lot during my childhood but I haven't heard it in decades until today. My husband and I got married in mid July, 28 years ago and we just returned from our anniversary trip to Gatlinburg Tennessee. For the first time in my life I heard the line "it was Gatlinburg in mid July". Funny how words written 50+ years ago can hit a familiar key at just the right time.

Johnny Cash touched so many lives. He was friends with Elvis all the way to Bono from U2. He was deeply close to the Lord. That's what all three of the men mentioned above had in common. Peace
