I think it's sort of sweet. I mean to be fair it is unusual for a band to be named after a lead guitarist (note we don't have a band called Sambora!). It is of course telling in a very nice way that despite the attention-grabbing antics of the exceptionally talented ham sandwich that is DLR (said with love) they spent a lot of time "accidentally" commenting on the inescapably exceptional talent of EVH. It all comes out in the wash! I find it refreshing that they aren't doing a deep dive, it's just an honest take from a place of genuine well-meaning curiosity. Cool.

Not just his guitars, but also his amplifiers. He used to run them on a bit higher voltage than they should, to get out that bit of extra crunch. Resulting on them not lasting for very long, but that doesn't matter, especially if it comes to capture that very special sound on tape to make a record.

Eddie was reluctant to do the gig because he and the rest of the band agreed never to do solo projects/gigs. However while his bandmates were out of town he agreed with producer Quincy Jones to do the solo on three conditions. 1. He would never get credited for the work because he didn't want the other members of Van Halen to know. 2. He didn't get paid because it was done as a favor and all he wanted in return was a case of beer. 3. He asked Michael to teach him how to dance. And there you go guys!! A bit of music history!! *And as I wrote that last point, I just remembered my dance recital back in '97... Music really does awaken the memory as well as the soul. Love to all 😊💙

Eddie VanHalen is considered one of the best ever guitarists. He’s the guy in the black/yellow striped jacket. His brother is on the drums. They started the band and brought in the bass player and the lead singer David Lee Roth.Ck out their song “Running WithThe Devil”. Eddie VanHalen is lit on his guitar in it! He battled cancer for over 20 years, was married to Valerie Bertanelli (sp?).

Eddie was like a modern day Mozart. As others have said, that’s his brother, Alex Van Halen on drums. This band was lightning in a bottle: the voice and showmanship (not to mention athletic ability) of lead singer David Lee Roth, and very talented bass player and vocalist Michael Anthony. They changed rock ‘n roll with their style, sent it in a direction that never would have been possible without them.

@@cogitus73 I agree. We bluegrass musicians certainly know the importance of trailblazers. I love Bryan Sutton, Jens Kruger and Flatt Lonesome, but I definitely have respect for Bill Monroe, Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs. I've also heard very technically adept musicians who were masters of their instrument but couldn't seem to make music that was acoustically pleasing to the ear. I believe that being able to combine instrument mastery with good sounding music is what makes someone the "GOAT," which is why I place Steve Vai and Eddie Van Halen in that category. Hendrix made great music, but as a guitar player I can recognize what's technically difficult and what isn't, and Hendrix never played anything that complex. Neither did Clapton or Page. I found that the only reason people seem to think they're "the best" is because of recognition bias. Nearly everybody has heard of Jimi Hendrix, but not that many people have heard of Steve Vai.

Thank you for the nice tribute to the greatest rock guitarist of all time. Glad you enjoyed this track. If you want to hear more of the music that made him a legend you will definitely enjoy his Eruption guitar solo (the live without a net version has superior audio and camera work). Many consider that the single greatest rock guitar solo of all time. When you review that, you will understand the outpouring of love and sadness his fans feel at his passing. Thanks again and so glad to see your growing success. (I got a kick out of your appearance on The NBA on TNT a few weeks ago).

David Lee Roth, lead singer (we all know that but the twins don't) said they spent $100 on that video, and half of that was on beer and chips!!! Just a fun band to watch. That "1984" album was the first rock album I ever bought. "Panama" (great, fun, simple video also!), "Hot for Teacher", and "I'll Wait" were some cuts also. R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen, he was on most people's list of one of the top 10 guitarists of all time, along with Hendrix, Santana, Eric Clapton, Prince, and all the other greats....

The lead singer, David Le Roth, is also a martial artist, which is no doubt where he got some of his jumps from. It’s mentioned in the comments already but Eddie was the guitarist, formerly married to actress, Valerie Bertinelli. As mentioned, that was his solo on Michael Jackson’s Beat It, which became a classic among pop rock solos.

Incredible how completely oblivious to anything made before five years ago they are. Just sad how can two American young adults have lived without having never HEARD of the BeeGees, Van Halen, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse(!!!).

@@ladydeerheart1 Give me a break...those videos with differente fellas-all young adults, mind ya-, reacting for the after listening and/or watching pop culture classics for the first time include untimely clasics kuje MY WAY from Sinatra, to The Bee Gees to Amy Winehouse -a lady who´s passed on six years back-! Those two guys made a video reaxting to Whitney frealing Houston´s I Will Alwauys Love you, for crying out loud! There are videos of red-bearded adult from the US commenting on he´s never even heard of the Titanic disasters as he comments on the movie by Cameron (he also shows no knowledge of a historical faxt like World War II as he reactd to Saving Priovate Ryan!!!). One doesnpt need to name who is singing this or that but having NO IDEA who The Beatles are nor that The Brothers Gibb were white is just compeltely ridiculous and ocms to show no atter the access to information nowadays, people in thenir 20s or 30s ar ejust completely alienated abiut anything made before the Kardashaians poped up on the small screen. And you come here to suppor that ignorance?? As for MY knlowoledge, yes, I know of many things that happeend before I eas nborn...nor knowing men arrived at the moon because one was not born in 1969 is no explanations for it. I was not even in mother was not born when GONE WITH THE WIND was on but that doesn´t mean I have never heard of Clark Gable!

@PurpleRose7777 Yeah, it should be expected for a young adult nowadays who has not been raised inside a cave in a Fourth World lsland to have at least HEARD of Chaplin, Stan Laurel&Oliver Hardy, Gene Kelly, Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Hitler, The Korean War, Pearl Harbour (not only the movie-which I bet my butt those guys hospting those videos have NEVER heard of, but the real conflict), etc
