It's up to you all you NYers fleeing for the suburbs to get back here soon and help rebuild this great city. This time we need to be a better, more equitable city, and perhaps a calmer place where music has always been a regular presence in the subways, the parks, the street corners and the clubs -- giving relief to the quick paced life. Despite the stresses, NY inspires. This song, New York, New York was not written in a suburb -- it was written in the songwriters' nyc apt, where many a great song has been written. Ultimately it's the people who have given nyc it engine. Most of us are toughing it out, supporting the city in whatever ways we can to keep it afloat until there is a vaccine. Help us reimagine nyc in the a new light and be here to see it's transformation. Thank you.

So glad you reacted to this song! If it sounds familiar, it's because they play it in Times Square EVERY New Year's Eve, once the ball has dropped. It's the first thing you hear in the New Year, and it's always great. Full disclosure: My cousin Fred Ebb wrote the lyrics to this song, and I'm proud of him every time I hear it... taking nothing away from Frank, of course. He didn't originate the song (Liza Minnelli did, in the movie of the same name), but he put it on the map.
