the absolute smoothest voice - ever! He has it all: voice/tone/breath control, no vocal distortion with volume- still clear and clean, and, well, smooth. In my book the greatest/best male voice of all time. Great performer/entertainer on stage. Good actor too. Keep in my that through most of his career there was no auto tune - especially during all those live performances for TV, Vegas and so many concerts. A very kind-hearted man too. Enjoyed you young people listening and appreciating the golden voice of Sinatra (RIP).

Okay. Im impressed. Im 63yo, Sinatra was the heartthrob of my mother and her generation of teenage girls in the 40s. I grew up hearing Sinatra in the house. That these young guys were "swingin' to this groove is great. Listen to Sinatra's "A Summer Wind".

I think people outside the US immediately connect w/ NYC because of its immigration history (Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, its ethnic diversity stemming from people of all countries settling here and establishing entire neighborhoods like Little Italy, Chinatown and Brighton Beach). I really hope you guys get to visit someday - some of its charm is gone, but it's still an amazing experience, with TONS to see and do. And Manhattan's pretty small, and very walkable. Also Ryan, The Bronx is one of the 5 boroughs, so technically you WERE in NYC. ;)

Liza Minnelli sang it first in 1977 and if you watch the clip from the movie, she knocks it way out of the park long before Frank did by at least 2 years. She kicked butt. When I heard Frank get a hit out of this, I believe his last one in 1979, I thought damn!! Frank's on top...I bet mom and dad are gonna like this! what a way to go out Frank! and he held the last note out to the very end!

I was thinking of jazz and what came to mind for me was Chuck Mangione. He had a top 10 hit from 1978 called Feels So Good. It’s a instrumental song. I think Ryan would love it due to the flugelhorn he plays. The single edit (3:30) is perfect and to the point since the album version is 9+ minutes long. Either way it’s a great song!

Glad you did this song! So great! Can't miss with him. Big Band music is so much fun and brings up so many memories (my grand parents era)! He did a song about Chicago too. Tread lightly on the pizza. 😂 Just makes you smile and be happy!

Well us oldies thank you for the "oldies" music :-) I prefer to think of it as timeless, evocative, musicals, black and white TV, soft shoe, swing, big bands, Bing, Ginger, Grace, lyrical, effortless and in the end almost the most perfect song for Frank. Thanks.

When you really think about the genre of Blue Eyed Soul music began with Frank Sinatra.....and Bing Crosby was at the center of the genre...who really started the "Crooner" style which still exist today with Spencer Day and Michael Bubble......I want request you guys react to "Fly Me To The Moon." by Frank Sinatra. Your reactions to New York by Frank Sinatra was perfect!!!!

I hope you consider listening to Dan Folgeberg, either The Leader of the Band or Same Ol Lang Syne. Dan passed away at a young age of prostate cancer but he was a great storyteller through his music.

Great song. You know I would have loved to hear Freddie Mercury sing this one. Freddie studied Frank Sinatra to learn his breath control. Brian May said he studied several people to get tips on control while singing since he never had a coach or lessons.

Sinatra. Niiiice. Good reaction. Here are some suggestions. Young At Heart, Moonlight In Vermont, Old Devil Moon, Witchcraft, Chicago, (Love Is) The Tender Trap, Strangers In The Night, Luck Be A Lady, or a very different type of song called Granada. The Chairman had range, man. Lots of range. Also check out his fellow Rat Pack god, Dean Martin. I recommend the song Sway. There are a lot of tracks that are more closely identified with Dino, but Sway is something special.

As a European who has travelled all over the USA, I can say I feel most at home in New York. My favourite city is New Orleans, but New York feels like home. Sinatra was simply the best. His work with Count Basie, especially the At The Sands album, and Nelson Riddle are impeccable.

Just a heads up...it says theme from New York, New York..not theme from New York. If you were to mail an envelope to an address in Manhattan, after the name and address would follow NY, New York not Manhattan, New York. I don't expect people not from NY to know That. But by the title he is definitely referring to NYC which consists of Manhattan, Brooklyn, Staten island, Queens and the Bronx.

Bing Crosby's early recordings are definitely worth checking out. Try his 1932 recording of "Brother, Can You Spare a Dime," about a man who had served as a soldier in World War I but was now standing in breadlines along with millions of other men during the Great Depression: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pafRlYeXbM2Eeqc Bing Crosby's genre of singers were known as "crooners," and Frank Sinatra's early style was modeled after them. Listen to Frank sing "That Old Feeling" in 1956: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZ-UppiEnNh4q6s The ULTIMATE swing tune, if you want to go down that rabbit hole is "Sing, Sing, Sing (with a Swing)" by the Benny Goodman Orchestra. The best version is the one recorded live at Carnegie Hall in 1937-the first time swing music was ever performed in that venue. It's long by radio standards, but you'll be on the edge of your seat the entire song! kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4bFmKp3ebF5hq8

Ngl. Been to NYC one time and loved it! Hung outside of the rainbow room/ NBC studios watching famous people walk in and out all day. Lemme tell ya, we went to Times Square and it was terrible. Def a bucket lister but not what you’d expect it to be truthfully. There are better sights to be seen in the big city!

I am a BIG TIME Sinatraphile, and although I love this recording, it’s not Frank at the top of his vocal powers. For that, you’d need to hit his Capitol recordings from the 1950s. This arrangement is wonderful, though! (Maybe try “Fly Me to the Moon” or “That’s Life.”)

Elaine, agreed. "The Capitol Years" is the collection to hear. Wasn't N.Y. from a Broadway show? Liza has a version. Sinatra's was done in the 80s I think, so yes, the voice was aging.

Completely agreeing with you. I am a sinatraphile myself. Saw him 3x in concert. I am amazed at how many people - young people in particular - on these pages - who don’t realize Sinatra is 63 when he recorded this. “She Shot Me Down” is really his last great artistic album even though I love “LA is my Lady” and was actually the first album of his I ever memorized.

I also don’t think there is a single record throughout his career that swings in this way. It’s completely unique amongst his recordings. It’s like a kick-your-feet-Rockette’s type of song
