hi loving this filter but why do you turn the mix knob to square when in 24 db mode?

When the two filters are in series the 24db response is from the second filter -> so the mix needs to be set on the square. The reason: Normally each side has 12db/oct LPF and HPF, and when the filters are in series the square output will have 12db + 12db = 24db/oct slope. So there is no "24db mode", it's just combining two 12db sides with identical control and mix set to the square side that is last in the series.
