Christina, you might want to add a note about the side colors. Dark color on the sides needs to be about 40 to 50% longer if you don't want to run out. For beginners like me anyway.

How do you start it off is it a knot with all the cords or something like that?
@CSLdesigns8 жыл бұрын
+Tilly Standen Yes, that's an easy way to start off. It's just to hold the cords together while you work with it :-)

Can you please help me? I have done this before for a bracelet, a very long time ago. Can you share with me about how much string i would need for a bracelet? in the past whenever i made anything like this i have wasted string. mot knowing how to measure for the correct size. I made one for a size 7 - 7 1/2 wrist. Thank you!! After getting the hang of it i enjoyed and loved doing this pattern. thanks for sharing ur video.

I can certainly try :-) It is a little bit difficult to say exactly what lengths of cord to use, as it all depends on how long you want the final piece to be, the type and thickness of your cord and what type of braid. The general rule for kumihimo braids though is that you the lengths of cord to work with that are about three times as long as you want your final piece to be. So if I make a bracelet for myself I will measure my cord by wrapping it around my wrist three times. This braid is a little different though, because the four cords on the side (the black ones in my video) get used more so you therefore need to make them a little longer than the rest. Probably about 20% longer, but just make sure that they are somewhat longer than your other cords. I hope that was helpful :-)

You start with the top left side but can you start at the top right side to? Or it doesnt matter witch side you start?
@CSLdesigns10 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can start with the other side. It doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you do the same thing throughout :-)

How much is 12 lengths of cord, is that like a foot long each.
@CSLdesigns10 жыл бұрын
The general rule for round kumihimo braid is that the cords you're working with need to be about three times the length as you want your final piece to be. So if I want to make a bracelet for myself, I'll wrap the cord around my wrist three times and use that length to work with. With this braid you just need to make sure that the four cords on the side (the black ones in this video) are longer than the others, by about 20% because they get used more in this specific braid. I hope that was helpful :-)

How do you finish the twisted braid ? And what end caps do you put on it?
@CSLdesigns10 жыл бұрын
I would just finish them in the same way. Just make sure that the end of the braid is pushed well into the end, and make sure that there is enough glue int the end cap to grab onto the spaces around the braid (still not too much glue though), and then it should still be plenty secure once it's dried :-)
