Since TM: Black is pretty much accepted as happening in Sweet Tooth's head it would have been fun to see one level that represented euphoria/mania rather than just the darkness of his mind. He obviously takes great pleasure in what he does so would have been an interesting addition. Maybe hiding it as a secret level to maintain the overall theme of the game but I think they could've had a lot of fun with it.

I agree with every entry on your level tier list. I would switch Snowy Roads and Suburbs; don't get wrong I love Suburbs, but Snowy Roads is my favorite level out of all them in Twisted Metal. It holds a very special place in my heart.

I don't want my two Twisted Metal dads to start fighting, but I do agree with you on Snowy Roads having that peak atmosphere making it edge out Drive-In when I get to that stage. I don't think Drive-In is trash, but I also don't think it's amazing. It's just a better Holland, which is fine for me and it suits TM:B's hectic gameplay well enough, but that contrast between Snowy Roads and the rest of the levels really makes it stand out. Also, as someone that experiences Snowy Roads im real life for 4 to 5 months in a year, that snow can really reflect light lioe nobody's business, and even falling snow can make things brighter than they need to be, so it could very well be evening on that map but the light of the setting sun behind the clouds alongside the headlights and street lights would make it look brighter, just maybe not that bright unless it was in the actual daytime. I would have liked a more blinding blizzard personally, even if it just rolled in and out, similar to Horsefuck Valley in DS2, just without the horsefuck. Having vision temporarily reduced because of sudden heavy snowfall would have been neat.

Anytime I played Black I would always go to either Junkyard or Skyscrapers. Always liked that they had some sort of automatic hazard that can harm other vehicles. Prison Passage I feel is only really hard if you don't go into the map with lots of weapons from Minion's fight or you're playing it in challenge mode. It also depended on who you're stuck with on the boat. Suburbs really feels like a "look how far we've come" map, especially accompanied with the remix of Rooftops from the first game. In terms of Drive-In you only really pick it if you either want the challenge, like the feeling of never being safe or catching your breath, or just want a badge of honor to say you can beat the level with no problem. I picked that map over Snowy Roads because I watched LuisParson pick it in all his hard mode no death runs, as he thought Snowy Roads was the easier of the two. I was inspired to do no death hard mode runs like him and thus why I always chose it. I guess I didn't think it would be a true legit hard mode run if I didn't pick it back then. Lot of runs were ended there, but it was an achievement to do it without dying. I do wish that the multiplayer maps were playable in single player. It's baffling that you have to go out of your way to unlock them and you can't even play them without a second controller.

@E.J.W there's gameshark codes out there that can add the multi-player maps to single player. AI glitches out on them from time to time (get stuckon wall), but not often enough to taint the experience.

Great list overall. I honestly agree with Freeway being so low since while I find it fun to play, it has the same visibility issues that Junkyard has. When the lights dim it becomes almost pitch black and in certain areas that can be a real pain to navigate. It's basically less fun Junkyard. And I would argue that Drive-In is the hardest level in the game over Prison Passage, as once you get to the island it can become much easier to avoid enemies, and when you are in the confined ship space it's far fewer enemies. I think fans like it because it is so hard, but I for the life of me cannot beat it, especially since I am a "in your face" kind of fighter where I want to ram into people and unload as many weapons as possible (hence why I generally prefer heavyweight cars like Junkyard Dog, Warthog and Manslaughter), a strategy which is NOT good for Drive-In.
@alexmichaelraccoonplays8777 Жыл бұрын
There four health pick-ups in drive-in movie and two in minion's stadium, you have to wait for the helicopters to pass by. I also prefer highway loop over downtown. To me downtown is not a bad level but it's just a lot of buildings. Also, something I like about highway loop is that there are so many cars that you can use as shields, but you also have to be very precise because sometimes your missiles will hit the regular cars instead of the enemies. Also, theres the section which is divided into two layers and you can also use it as an strategy to hit someone from the upper level and then let yourself go to the section below to avoid attacks. Also, I take into account the music played in the levels and I love suburbs and drive-in movie music.

Will you be doing a full series tierlist for levels?
@RoRoCraziness Жыл бұрын
My opinion on Skyscrapers is kind of weird and probably unpopular, but personally I've always loved that level's backdrop. Seeing all those dilapidated buildings, the eerie fog not too far below, the crashed airplane, the demonic church, etc. I'm left thinking, "What exactly IS this place? What happened here? How is an entire section of Midtown just completely abandoned and left like this?" Something about the level is just so odd and standout-ish to me. There's an untold story that can only be slightly implied by the environment itself, and its surreal nature feels like a fitting climax to a game filled with psychological themes/horrors.

You know what you could do is not limit all the levels you mark as S-tier, but then after ranking every game's levels, take all the ones you labeled S-tier and make a list out of that! The one that makes it to the S-tier of the S-tier list could then maybe be the subject of a video afterward. Although I totally get your position, because it's kind of hard to hate ANY level in Black!

I always found Prison Passage could ether be the easiest or hardest in any run. I often clear out the boat with the ammo left over from minions fight and have to wait to make land before I can continue, making for an easy run. If I don't manage that I'm usually running in circles, again waiting for the boat to make land. I'd get ripped to shreds if I made a tier list for putting it into trash tier XD Also nice to hear a much more reasonable assessment of Drive-in, though I dislike it far less. Good stuff my dude!

My thoughts about the levels of TM Black (that includes the multiplayer ones at least three of them) . The Junkyard: This level can be better if its stays in rain and at night to give it a more challenge approach but i still found the night/day change transaction to be interesting. Other than that its a pretty cool level to start and one that can be enjoyable. . Suburbs: This level is decent but it doesn't feel massive, what i do like about this level is the option to destroy the carnival ride and send it to the ocean. One of the things that this level could have been improved if it shows a police department and a more larger environment, a canal section and a small freeway section. If they added this things on this level it would have been like Cyburbia except with a darker and gloomy nature. Overall its an ok level. . Freeway: I love this level, in fact i played it a lot in the challenge mode, for some reason its because of its music, massive design and the stadium section and hospital section. While Freeway may feel empty i think it has to be because of the racing stadium section since its parking lot its indeed empty. Another thing i love about this level is the option to destroy the train with gas can or satellite weapon as i always do that LOL. Despite its flaws, this is one of of my favorite levels in the game. . Downtown: it reminds me a lot of River Park Rumble except without the Christmas theme and it feels more bigger than the one from TM1, i like this level especially with that wild west ambience music and the raining effect. . Highway Loop: Not much of a fan of this level simply because it feels small, feels more difficult than Downtown and it only has one recharge station that you can use only once. Those are the issues why i dont like this level that much. Its like the freeway from TM1 except not as good as it is. . Minion's Stadium: For some reason, this level its basically the stadium section of TM black freeway except bigger and more menacing, this level is good but it could have been better if the details were more different as it feels like youre playing a bigger version of the stadium section of freeway. . Prison Passage: A lot of people may like this but i am not one of them, in fact it is one of my least favorite levels next to Highway Loop and Drive in Movie. The reason for it is because it feels slow and tedious especially on the first part of it and you have to wait until the ship reaches to its destination to fight the other enemies. If they didn't added that section in which you have to wait for the ship to reach the asylum this level would have been great. Sorry if thats the reason why i dont like this level but its just feel slow. . Snowy Roads: This level could be great if it was larger and it could take place in a forest/ grasslands to give it a more death feel approach for the drivers. I can honestly said the music its pretty haunting and dramatic and i love it. This level surprised me really for its gloomy and shivering feel especially on the day sky. Overall pretty neat level to be honest despite being small. I would called this level The Silent Hills. . Drive In Movie: This level is fucking hard, in fact its almost as the fight of your life level from TM1, Moscow and Holland level from TM2 and Egypt from TM3. The worst part about this is that it doesnt have a recharge station and fighting 6 to 7 opponents its horrifying. Even the music speaks louder than actual words LOL, one of my very very least favorite levels in the game. At least Highway Loop and Prison Passage has recharge stations. . The Skycrapers: Basically a gothic version of the Rooftops from TM1, everything about it feels dark, gothic and hellish especially the church temple section with those creepy statues. I can said this level is pretty awesome even thought it feels shallow, i played this level a lot along with Freeway and Downtown. This level should have been called Hell's Gothic Building LOL. .Warhawk's Base: Nothing to said about it. I haven't played the three levels of the multiplayer but here my thoughts about just by seeing it. I also dont count the mini versions of other levels as there basically the same. .The Sewers: Its pretty cool but i think this level could work as larger section of the lower planes of the junkyard level, i fact a small section of the sewers appear if you destroy the plane from above to get Yellow Jacket. Despite this, the sewers also works as its own level. . Elevators: Another level that works well with the Junkyard level or in a abandoned storage warehouse. I cant remember if this level is small or medium. . Power Plant: I level that has a lot of potential for being in one player game modes, what i like about its the green night sky and deserted atmosphere and the fact looks like an abandoned old military facility makes all spooky.

My S tier is Junkyard not gonna lie. I love how hectic and difficult it can be yet has a decent amount of health pickups. The soundtrack is an absolute banger and it’s almost always my go to Normal Deathmatch map whenever I introduce the game to somebody. Having Drive in on Trash tier is absolutely goatee btw, fuck that map 😂. I like difficult levels but Drive in is a literal square with not enough weapon pickups and just overall very little of interest in the level itself. Snowy Roads is peak small levels for Twisted Metal standards in my eyes. Insanely difficult but with a lot going on and the best environmental attack in the game.

Snowy roads is definitely my S tier level not only is just so awesome, that music on it is epic its like something out of the Crow, given the choice most of the time regardless which character I am playing as I choose the roads, the Drive in movie is garbage, ok so yeah you can see yourself on the movie screen before it gets blown to heck that's a neat little feature that I never noticed until recently playing it again in HD. And the Suburbia level is awesome too plus you can unlock the coolest version of Warthog 😁 I love his redesign with the treads just awesome, I just wish that he had more of a story beside just his ending cutscene but with the exception of Yellowjacket all the unlockable characters just have endings kinda a weird choice but I get it they aren't patients like the rest of the roaster and oh boy is Black prehaps the darkest of all TM games that we've gotten so far, hopefully we will be getting a new game soon regardless of if the show is a success, I'm still not sure how I feel about overall.
