日本の中学生向けの英語の教科書が、イギリス英語から、アメリカ英語に変わったのは、1966年からです。 私の兄は、 I have not a hat. と習ったのですが、私は、I do not have a hat. と習いました。 In 1966 the English in the textbooks for junior high school students in Japan changed a lot. It turned from British English to American English. My elder brother learned at school "I have not a hat," but I learned "I do not have a hat."
Hello, all right? Your Japanese puts us to shame, doesn't it ? I spent my formative years in the U.K ( the Smoke ),France (Paris) , Spain (Madrid ) , and ...getting back to the land of the rising sun at the age of 18. I Did really got baptised with a British (London ) accent. My American friends always telling me “You speak English as if you were Btits”. 🇬🇧 Cheers then. Talk to you again. Ta. Do not let your health suffer, please.

日本人は文化的にも発音もイギリス英語のほうが合ってると思う! Yes, its easier for Japanse to pronounce British English than American Eng. and also the culture is similar.

I absolutely agree with you! Thank you for making this video :) I was in England for two years and I’m learning British English. I love to speak and listen British English ;)
Being a Chinese learning British English and Japanese at the same time, I also find there are many common points between these two languages. So I feel delight that I am speaking British English and Japanese. Besides, Spanish’ pronunciation also has similar points with Japanese i reckon.
I agree with you. It's easier for me to pronounce words with british pronunciations because "t"is clearly pronounced and "r"is not stressed like in American.
Yes ! Many English English words became Japanese after wars ! Then we started learning American English as we have more connections to U.S. ( import / export & economical products & business )& tourism.
I do like British English not just because I like the uk, but I like the sound of British English itself. I’ve been fed up with English education which teaches only American English. Some teachers don’t even know there are differences in spelling between them and confidently ‘correct’ when I write ‘realise’ instead of ‘realize.’ How stupid! Anyway, I agreed with your opinion.
How fascinating this video...I have always felt that for the japanese, the British English pronunciation is much more suitable. Especially words that contains “R” and “L” in middle of a word.. It has been quite known that this sound is difficult for the japanese to pronounce if they try to speak fast... Many japanese would actually sound more clear and structured. if they would to pronounce more like in the British English, Example “APPLE” Eng: [Àppùll ] rather than AE: [eee-a-pull ] which doesn’t always sound good with native japanese speaker’s pronunciation. Im originally from Japan but grew up in Sweden, although attended Int’l school (AE) Lived in New York, Many years in SE Asia, still until this day, I have maintained the “european” english as Helix says, simply because I think it sounds more clear and easy to understand for Non-native english speakers When I do business across diverse nationalities. And it has been appreciated even by my japanese Colleagues and clients who finds my verbal translation in business meetings, so clear that they can understand it is correctly conveyed to the other part.

あなたのチャンネルは、私には分かりやすくて良いです。多くの外国の方と話す機会がありますが、私は英語が話せません。ですが、ジェスチャーと数個の単語で語り合えると感じています。(Your channel is good for me to understand. I have a chance to talk with many foreigners, but I can not speak English. However, I feel that I can talk with gestures in several words.)

I’ve just found your channel today and thought it’s really great! I used to live in England as a student more than 20 years ago and the reason I chose your country was I liked British rock kind of music(still do). Now I’ve started to teach English to kids and I do want to teach British English but noticed that it’s very difficult to find the teaching materials of British English. How could I compete with American English in Japan? Help me!

I think the reason why few Japanese people speak British english is a small number of British English teachers in Japan. so, I'm looking forword to watch your lesson in this channel. Thank you.

I used to going to English cram school when I was a high school kid. My teacher was an English man, and I absolutely liked his cockny accent. I started trying to speak English like British people since I met him. And I watched a lot of British TV series. I agree with you and those Japanese people who think English-English is good for us, but I recommend them not to watch BBC Sherlock. His super fast English made me feel like it’s impossible to catch what native British people are saying.
Nice video mate! Very impressed that you learned so much Japanese in such a short time! I agree with you but for different reasons. I think that American pronouciation is somewhat easier for Japanese people since it doesnt require ennouciating quite as much. My wife says its easier on her diaphram! But I think the image of British English suits the Japanese better. Both England and Japan have a polite shy image, so it seems strange for me to hear Japanese people say things like Awesome and See Ya!, when it seems like they should say Lovely and Goodbye!

Lol. Many very good points ! Though English are not shy at all ! Just the image that Asians are having !
You’re spot on, British English is simply better, and i believe that it’s more formal and smarter to learn British over American. However there are quite a lot of different accents, like Scottish or Scouse, so if you could speak queens English that would be immaculate.
