This movie got me interested in storms.. I have been in some hectic storms (no tornados but the sirens have gone off many times) but I've seen everything from intense winds, so much hail you couldn't see 2feet infront of you, power outages for days at a time or longer.. yeah we cooked hotdogs on the campfire well on a stick it was good, 2019 polar vortex where temperatures were -20 with windchill almost hitting -60 in some areas.. also my parents were in the blizzard of 78 in Ohio, they couldn't see out the window or even leave the house because the snow was up to their roof. The most epic thing I ever saw from a storm was red lightning I been here 28 years and never seen anything like it before with the power outage it looked even better.. After I saw Twister is when I found Reed Timmer and the show with the TIV (Tornado Intercept Vehicle) and til this day I watch anything storm related, like hurricane footage, tornado footage, severe storms (on youtube) and the severe storms with my own eyes which I always love.

1:57 The Crown Vic with the lights on is a friend of mine’s tracker vehicle. I know 100% he started tracking storms due to the movie. I ran in to him through a storm tracking group we both belonged to back then. I remember him talking about being excited to go to Wakita for the anniversary. I’ve been a tracker for almost 20 years. I didn’t do it because of the movie. I took my wife and kids with me one night tracking storms but I got myself in a bad situation that I couldn’t see the storm and I couldn’t retreat south or east I could only go deeper into the storm. I promised myself to never be in that situation again and I studied and became certified with the nws then I continue to study year over year not to keep anything like a certification going just to keep out of that situation again.

I was the third shift maintenance lead at Universal Orlando's Twister show. We had lots of Twister movie memorabilia, including the storm chaser yellow school bus, and the van. Most were sold off when we closed Twister, and the museum might have received some of the items. I used to walk around and check out the props used in the movie. Dorothy and the cow were a pain to work on, especially as the ride aged.

Cool to see that book cover in the glass case with the famous photo taken by a High School student of the F5 Tracy, Minnesota tornado on June 13, 1968. My sister and grandmother were in that tornado. My sister was just a baby. I wasn't born yet. My mom told me that she was in Tracy that afternoon and right before she left to drive out to the University, my grandmother looked up at the sky and said, "This looks like tornado weather." Little did they know. My grandmother and sister survived, taking shelter in the basement. The house wasn't touched. But many people lost their lives, and so many others were injured. The property damage was unimaginable through town.
