Granted the tornadoes weren't as 'Hollywood' as the first movie... but they were based more on the look of reality, which - while I enjoy the first movie better, the realistic look was a big plus for me. And I liked how the tornadoes didn't sound like lions or tigers... (not gonna say it. LoL). Also, was a good tribute to the El Reno, Oklahoma event.

OK so this one's tough for me because I'm super critical of this film. At 36 I grew up watching the first over and over on VHS and of course as a home theater enthusiast it's one of the films that you just have fun with on a multitude of levels. One of the things that makes the first film works so well is the cast for each side character in the crew. Even though we're only given a few brief moments with them you kind of get each character right away. It helps that you have a charm coming from all the different actors and actresses including of course the late great Philip Seymour Hoffman. As a soundtrack enthusiast I was very very curious as to how this film was going to present itself as the first films score is practically legendary in the film score community. Sadly I was let down on a lot of fronts in this film including its score. The special effects were top-notch the audio design was great but the side characters were (sept for Ben) very forgettable in my opinion at least but the chemistry between the leads and the eventual team up was good enough to keep me interested. What also frustrates me is the marketing clearly try to Bring in the member berries with its marketing using the exact same font for posters trailers etc. and of course in the film we actually get a real Dorothy which was a nice surprise if I'm honest. The problem is they don't really relate to the first film unless they want to when they really should've a golden opportunity would've been to reveal that the mother the whole time was Joe from the first film. I just wish the movie kind of tried to do its own thing rather than trying capitalize on marketing around the first and of course clearly superior twister movie :-). Great reaction as always! - Aunt MEG miss get it right Grrr lol- Wakita was the town.

@StormChaserJeremy10 күн бұрын
As an actual storm chaser I will say this is the most accurate Hollywood depiction of storm chasing. They do take some artistic liberties (like just driving through and destroying fields) but still very well done
@minix3PLL201211 күн бұрын
They filmed a kiss in the airport scene. After tyler goes after her. However, Spielberg suggested that it would make it seem to cliche. And that the characters running off together at the end to chase another storm together gave KATE more purpose. And that it shows its about her journey. I think they were thinking with the actors' chemistry and the tension was enough to ELUDE toward it but dont do the "cliche" kiss at the end. Which i think was the point of her throwing his line back at him "if you feel it, you should chase it!" As a sort of foreshadowing to it. And then he actually does go after her. I think they figured thatd be enough, though clearly they underestimate the audiences love of the kiss between characters like them, who have that tension and chemistry thru out the entirety of the film. We WANT that payoff in the end.

If you take out some of the callbacks and the bullshit science of choking out a tornado with “polymers” this movie moves from good to great. Tornadoes choke themselves out by occluding usually. Also this is filmed in my home of State of Oklahoma where El Reno was hit by a tornado back in 2013. The soundtrack to this film is superb and y’all had a great reaction to this and i’m glad you all liked it. Also in Oklahoma we are way smarter about tornadoes than this movie might lead on. Helen Hunt brought the idea of a sequel to the studio, they boxed her out to do this instead, hoping to catch a younger audience. This movie was the worst attempt at a reboot I’ve ever seen. I saw this movie in the theater with my family last year, and it was awesome. And I also got this movie for Christmas this past year. For me personally, I like this one better than the original. I feel like this one is a little bit more light hearted tone to it than the first one and not as grim. I really loved Tyler Owen's entrance. I saw Luke Comb's Ain't No Love in Oklahoma music video that he did for the movie, and I was hoping that they played it somewhere in the movie, and I'm so happy they used it for Tyler Owen's entrance. That was the perfect song for his entrance. When I heard that playing in the theater, I was lip syncing to it because of how happy I was to hear that song being played. Also, regarding why they didn't kiss at the end, they did film another version of that scene that had Tyler and Kate kissing, but Steven Spielberg suggested that they use the non-kiss scene instead, since it solidify that Kate character's arc was about her returning passion for storm chasing. And honestly, I'm glad that they didn't use it, mainly because it's a cliche that gets old way too fast the more often it gets used.

I don't think this one has the charm of the original and it felt like a bit of a rehash, so it was a little disappointing. I can't stand the actor who plays the love interest, so that probably colours my perspective about the movie as well. First and foremost, I think this movie was a very decent one. It wasn't oversaturated with "the message" that Hollywood has been inserting for the last decade. It was just a pretty good movie with a decent story. That being said I wish it was at LEAST a bit more original rather than just updating the original story and also that it was in fact a sequel. By putting the "S" at the end it makes the audience assume "sequel." Therefore it's intentionally misleading. Still, forgetting all that it IS a good movie. I gave it a soli 3 stars. 3.25 at most. It gets less on the count that it's NOT original in any way. It's the same exact story as the original just updated; but still using the same 1990's technology as if it was something new today.
