"Big dumb fun without insulting the audience's intelligence" -- it's not really too much to ask and yet it's something that Hollywood seems to have forgotten how to do. They focused on character and story, while combining thrilling sequences of natural disasters. It's also fun to have a different type of blockbuster other than superheroes or a man with a gun. SPOILER... It seemed obvious to me that Maura Tierney's role was likely written with Helen Hunt in mind to return. In addition to Kate having access to Dorothy tech from the first movie, she also dressed like Helen Hunt's character throughout the movie. I don't know at what stage the change (if there was one) was made, but it makes total sense to bring her back in that part.

@@DanMurrellMovies Yes, okay! Totally agree. I do wonder if in earlier drafts of the script Daisy's character was Bill & Helen's daughter. Would have been a nice connection... but... oh well. @DanMurrellMovies 100% agree. Early in the movie, the reporter asks Kate for her last name, but she doesn't give it. I was so certain that I was more surprised when it wasn't Helen Hunt than I would have been if she appeared.

I got to admit that in 1996 I was already 33 years old but I liked the original Twister for the same reasons you did as a 13 year old. That may tell us something about me, or not, but the flying cows, the realistic destruction, and maybe even the melodrama (that I don't remember much) were just great. That same summer MI 1 and Independence Day also came out? Must have been the best summer ever. Big dumb fun? Yes. Good review, as always. Thanks.

I was confused by your beating around the bush about an Actor they wanted to play a certain part. Do you mean they wanted HELEN HUNT to play Daisy's mother? That would have required the script to open up a whole new back story and address Bill Paxton's absence. Might have been distracting. I would have enjoyed maybe a scene where there is a TORNADO CHASER wall of fame in the town square and they show a picture of Bill Paxton, and Glenn Powell mentions he was inspired to chase Tornadoes by Bill Paxton's character. That would have been a nice satisfying connecting Nod.

to be honest I don't understand this sentiment of "glen powell is everywhere". Since Top gun, he's had devotion, anyone but you, hitman and now twisters. Thats not an insane output, 1-2 a year and its not like he is hopping from franchise to franchise. Twisters is now an IP sure but the other ones are all non IP. He is also generally a standout and people generally like his performances in decently reviewed movies that sometimes even become money earners like anyone but you. so big project participation in maverick, some good choices in movies, can be a co-lead in a money earner for a genre that doesn't usually earn much in theatres recently, and is decently acclaimed, then of course you are going to see him more.

Coming from a fan who loved watching you win so many Movie Fight debates, I wish you would go a little deeper in your reviews. You understand story structure and acting much more than these vids lead you to believe that it would be a welcomed addition to go a tad deeper in your review breakdowns. Good or bad movie.

I do think being from the Tornado Alley area will help your viewing pleasure of this movie. Otherwise I have seen reviewers that are not from these areas, think the tornadoes and the circus behind them are to surreal. That part seemed to me pretty accurate though.

5:00 What actor/character is Dan talking about here? I personally think they should’ve made the main character the daughter of Bill and Jo, so maybe he’s talking about Helen Hunt 🤷🏼♀️
