I'd like to clarify some weird foods that you guys see at the beginning of the video. 1- The food at the 3:29 is "şırdan". It is a street food special for the city "Adana"(as most of these are) , which is at the south-east region in the Turkey. Don't worry, it is not a penis though, it is the inner part of sheep stomach (sheeps have more than one stomach, so it is just one part of them), filled with a stuffing made with rice and spices. Even in Turkey, people abstain from şırdan, but after trying they actually enjoy this eastern delicacy :D 2- 7:36 This food is "kokoreç" and actually tastes BOMB. It is basically sheep intestine, but they cook it with coal fire (like barbecue). I can say that it tastes like really well roasted döner kebab. Kokoreç is very popular everywhere around Turkey, but honestly, i think it is hard to find a place that cooks them fine. Would recommend you to try once. 3- 9:39 This one is "mumbar". I haven't tried it before, but i know that it is made from, again, intestine as mumbar literally means "large bowel". Special for the east region of Turkey (cities like Adana, Elazığ, and Hatay which is at the more Mediterrean-southern side). 4- 10:07 Again, mumbar. 5- 10:47 This dude Czn Burak, is one the obnoxious instagram famous cooks (there are lots of them as you see) and annoys us the fuck out. Consuming of offals is a common thing in Turkish cuisine, because we absolutely hate wasting food like many other Asian cultures, it is very disrespectful. Still, most of the Turkish people won't prefer eating them though, and they'd give the same reaction as Ethan did :D I hope my language is understandable and didn't confuse you too much. They are classified as a protected class, and its easier to make a case for that than any other ordinary joke in bad taste. Its one of the few times where it wasn't only Hila doing damage control. Well Ethan admitted he has some level of Tourette's so I think he is prone to saying what comes to his mind before thinking about how controversial the topic and his words about the topic are. I know a lot of us don't really care if he uses the word "retard" or his ideas of trans people might not be super well researched and thought out, but I cringe a little when he goes to the controversial topics because other people on the podcast can be affected by the outrage that can result. Hila and Dan know it is not a great idea to let Ethan go too far off the PC rails even if a lot of us are fine with it. You just aren't as free to be edgy as you used to be unfortunately so I think the days of Ethan saying "N****r f****t" on the podcast are long gone.
