I wholeheartedly agree with Brett on this issue, as a younger millennial woman. I was bombarded with porn and sex at way too young an age. I feel like it really fucked me up and ruined my childhood and young adult years. Porn and sex addiction ruined my parents marriage and therefore my family. To be clear, when the guidelines say "allowed with label" the label they're talking about removes the stream from appearing on the front page and requires checking a box saying that you're 18, which is about all the protection you'll get on actual porn sites like pornhub. So the point of the policy was to abandon moderation and instead provide a slight amount of protection against anybody unwantingly seeing this stuff. Still a pretty bad way of going about it, but I see far too many people misunderstanding the intended function of the policy.

I have friends who’ve used Twitch to stream, and I love a couple cooking channels. I once reported underage girls (about 14) dancing for the camera to get donations. They were taking requests for “sexy dances”, their words. Freaked me out as a mom.

How is it targeting minors, twitch is not for kids and it never was? You should not allow your kids to be on any site with user generated content, if they see something you don't like, it is your fault and your responsibility to correct their behavior, it isn't someone else's job to parent your kids.

@@MegaLokopo That's just incorrect. At least 20% of their active accounts openly report being under 17, so imagine the number of accounts of kids who realized they could lie. And unlike most p*rn sites, there is no disclaimer popping up to warn users of certain content. Hell, examples of it are almost always in the the trending/feature tab.

Exactly. Other women don't seem to understand or care that their behavior reflects back onto all other women. You can't even really blame men for objectifying at this point. They look and think, if that girls a hoe, and so are those other 4...then what makes me assume that one over there isn't one either? Women are hurting women and preventing us from being seen as respectable or competent in any way. I don't want this for me, I don't want this for my little sister.

To be fair there probably aren't any "good" female streamers, at least not on Twitch. While this move is bad, they've been selectively allowing suggestive and sexual content on their platform for a while now, even if it did technically violate TOS. They aren't exactly known for being unbiased or fair.

I’ve decided for a while that my kids won’t get a phone, iPad, or anything like that until they are in high school(as I didn’t get a phone until I was 15.) When I was a kid and I got bored I’d go up to my mom telling her how board I was and I was given a football, baseball, soccer ball, everything you could imagine for sports. Instead of my parents giving me a tablet or phone to distract me, they locked me outside with a soccer ball, baseball, and football, or anything else I could find in the shed(pretty much any sport you could think of I had the proper stuff I needed for it in the shed)

@@ButtersKENough I meant close the video or on a desktop computer hit the minus on the window itself. On mobile you can just look away. There really is no additional necessary context gained by watching the video instead of just listening to it. You could also flip your phone over so no one can see it if that is your concern.
