Jon also shares why Devolver Digital's E3 press conference is the 'cool video of the week' - and which five video games were his favorite from the annual conference.

I recently had a friend go missing under similar circumstances-he had responsibilities to attend to and plenty of time/ability to tell people that he just needed to get away for a bit, but he told no one and just blew off his responsibilities. If Lauralania's situation was anything like my friend's, she could just be extremely stressed out from her life situation and completely disconnecting from everyone and everything-including friends, family, and outlying responsibilities-might've seemed like the best way to help alleviate that stress. It doesn't make the decision any less irresponsible, but it does mean that she needs more support for her well-being than criticism for her actions. Especially with this ridiculous witch hunt layered on top of everything-probably induces a lot more stress and panic that she really, really didn't need.

There's also a Mario crossover happening with Ubisoft's Rabbids. It sounded so silly at first, but it looks fun. I'd like to try it.

Has the news section in Five Minute Fridays basically replaced the World According to Jon? This missing streamer story seems like something that would've totally been a World episode a couple years ago.

+kierancaspian yes and no. I honestly don't know what I'm doing with my dozen+ KZbin shows anymore. Is having the news in this program redundant? WATJ still exists though, and I want to get better about producing it more often, but I'm not really motivated anymore :-(

Yeah, I think that you've definitely taken on a lot for just one person. WATJ was always one of my favorite series because I liked hearing your opinion on the news, and that's definitely still present here, but on WATJ the ideas can be more fleshed out. But maybe I'm wrong. It might be more convenient to combine the two shows so you only have 11+ things to deal with :-)

I'm glad that you, and a lot of other people enjoy WATJ - but sadly, I'm not really one of them, haha. Requires way too much work and research to truly protect myself, and ultimately it's only rewarding on interesting if I pick the topics that matter to me; but those are also the least comfortable to actually share (given their respective controversies)... so, I haven't done it much in the last few years.

I then I guess Five Minute Fridays is a happy medium, because I love this show too, and since it's easier to make, it seems to be the most consistently uploaded show, which is a good thing!

Honestly, if I heard a popular male streamer had disappeared late at night and hadn't contacted his girlfriend for almost 24 hours, him cheating would probably be a reason that would cross my mind. I wouldn't be a dick and spread rumors about it on the internet, but it's not an entirely unreasonable assumption. Also, totally agree on the hype for Spiderman and Detroit: Become Human. The same developer making Detroit also made Heavy Rain, which I loved.

IMHO, the biggest issue with her disappearance is that the story kept changing. First it was just that her phone died. Then it was that she didn't have a charger. Then it was that she was out playing poker. Then it was because she wanted a night to "unplug". Well, if you wanted to unplug, tell people. And when people get concerned, don't make up excuses, and then another one, and then another one. And then only bring up half truths. Sure, it is her own personal life, and she is entitled to it. But don't leave a bunch of people hanging like that. L.A. is a big city full of a lot of unscrupulous people. And sadly, people just disappear in its bowels all the time. So its not really fair to any of her friends to just go "tee-hee, im hooman, I need break" and expect that to be accepted as a perfectly viable answer. Given her strange behavior, her oddball tweeting after the fact, her tweeting while not calling her significant other and family, it just screams stupidity on a level that most of us grow out of before we leave highschool. While I wont condemn her with accusations of cheating or anything like that, it is clear that what is being said is not the whole story, and there are facts intentionally being left out. And the person I feel most sorry for because of that, is her significant other.

I think you miss the point. The way she went about constructing her narrative of events is what is at issue here. At first it started out as "oops, I made a mistake", and ended up at "this is what I wanted, you can all just deal with it". So...which is it? You cant premeditate making a mistake. And honestly, it feels less like expanding the narrative to give a more complete answer, and more like fishing for the narrative that will get the best response from the white knight brigade to flip the blame to the people who questioned her motives, rather than questioning her actions. Judging by your post, its working. And by not levelling accusations, im not going to say dumb shit like "we all know she had a train of dudes run on her". I am making a statement of fact that there are clearly some details she is intentionally leaving out. The very fact that she was blowing off her family and significant others, causing them to respond such as they did, says there is more to this story than is being told. Whether it is something nefarious, or something completely innocent...that is a fact. It wasnt just the internet that over reacted, don't try and pin this just on them. And saying "sorry" for straight up disappearing in a city with some of the highest kidnapping, rape, and murder rates in the US, is completely inexcusable, and "sorry" hardly covers it. And she absolutely needs to be held accountable for her extreme lack of professionalism, lack of maturity, and overall careless selfish attitude. I have no doubt that whatever level of malevolence is thrown at her, will not change a damn thing about her actions. But it will hopefully make all of her current and future sponsors think twice before they pay her bills, or ship her off to another expo. Especially to a place like Las Vegas where...hell, we might loose her for a whole week straight, what with their windowless oxygen pumped table halls.

To be fair - they did. They filed a missing persons report with the LA Police Department before sharing it online, AFAIK. She as gone for an entire 24 hour period without so much as a text.
