Also those totems with the rotating cylinders with the nails sticking out are part of the puzzles. THe lens shows the paint marks that show how to align them.

Dude, you never figured out the Rebel Lens you picked up??? It shows invisible paint that helps you solve many of the clues, including the rotating domes (and when to click the button)

you missed the art work in the cave using the glass thingy on your last video.

those structures do have something to do with something. If us look at them with the glass you can see how to aim the nails.

If you haven't figured out yet that new items you have is a spy type glass that shows hints. not sure what that nail thing is, but you can use the glass to line up the lines to it.

You may have figured this out by now, but the solution to the Survey Island puzzle is just to look at the dome itself to time your click (to match the appearance of the symbol) instead of through the viewer. Hence why it gives you another perspective when you click on it... deceptively simple 🙃

That bent viewer got me stuck for a long time too, I kept trying to get the boat to move to lure the whark over to bend it back into place. I'm pretty sure you have to time the click on that one so that the right symbol is facing where the viewer should be. I'm loving this series, I watched the first 1.5 or so, then played through the game myself :)

Other than the Sierra "Quest" games my top 3 favorite adventure games were: The Longest Journey, Return To Zork, and Full Throttle.

I think the Whark is Gehn's own personal Whark, and he is a red herring, Pay attention to the symbols on the 6 symbol viewer. The numbering system is so easy, even a child in school can learn it

Now that I finished the game myself, watching you gives me a great amount of joy. This could have been me, but I kept using the new toy they gave me constantly and everywhere, So I found the important clues a lot quicker. Still enjoying seeing you getting stumped a bit.

I think you forgot what you said in one of your first videos When you cant solve a puzzle in 5 mins it usually means you need more information so its always good to leave and come back Or something might hit you after being gone for sometime and be like oh all I need to do is turn something in another way But usually something needs to be unlocked first even though the player doesnt realize it

Great series. I don't play games much, but I think I'll have to get this game. I haven't played the original but I have always liked puzzle adventure games. I am liking the Howard Cosell part, although since I have been subscribed to your channels since about 2010-2011 and after seeing all your videos, I was hoping to hear you do the Howard Cosell voice again but it is fine. 6:10 - Once you said Earthbound, I started to wonder what a 3D first person version of Earthbound might be like if it has visuals like this Riven remake.

Your point at 13:50 is so true. Now that the game is real-time these types of secrets don't seem as infuriating, but when it was it's original point and click slideshow, it was so easy to miss.

The number system is a bit hard to understand. If a number is alone it's just that one number, but if there's two side by side, then the first number is "how many multiples of 25" and the second number is added to that total. So on page one of Gehn's journal you see "3" and "4" combined, so (3 = 25x3= 75) + 4 = 79.

You're right it doesn't have a place in the movies, but will have a place in arcade cabinets once I reinstate it.

The holes in the water/ocean are intentional. They're meant to show how Riven is literally falling apart. The entire world is on the brink of collapse.
