The singer of Rhapsody of Fire then was Fabio Lione. Luca plays the classic guitar on that one. 😉😇😀

This band is a split from the original Rhapsody of Fire. Alex Starapoli, the other composer, has continued it. Charlie, think of them as the "missing" link between Blind Guardian and Nightwish.

If you dare sink in the world of RHAPSODY (OF FIRE) - well, it is mostly the brain child of Luca Turilli in most incarnations - I think you would enjoy exploring into their Neo-classical sound. Sometimes the guys were literally taking Classical evergreens and making a Metal "cover" of them ("The Wizard's Last Rhymes"), or just blasting our ears into eternity with glorious Opera-meets-Hollywood battle anthems ("Dawn of Victory", "Rain of a Thousand Flames"), or full-on epic sound pictures that emotionally stimulate the spheres of our brain like a high fantasy movie would ("Gargoyles, Angels of Darkness", "Heroes of the Waterfalls' Kingdom"). They also displayed that softer side in masterful folk-like tunes ("Old Age of Wonders") and wrote ballads in native language that would rival an operatic aria in all but the intent (Luca said it was just easier to convey deep emotion in Italian that's all :) - try "Guardiani del Destino" or "Anima Perduta" for good measure and judge for yourself...). Admittedly, I just gave a few titles off the top of my head, and purposefully not the most requested ones, so as to avoid duplication. But if you revisit, there would be a healthy dozen more suggestions to make. Enjoy responsibly... oh who the hell am I kidding?! Just imbibe RHAPSODY in all iterations!

Well said my friend, one day, they'll get the recognition they deserve. I have listend to many bands / musicians from all spectres of music and I consider myslef open to anything, I have a few favorite artists, I also produce music etc, but that doe not matter, what I want to say is that Rhapsody for me, is beyond any list, it's the thing that made the "spheres of my brian" into a Torus when I was 14-15. I don't listen to Rhapsody all the time, like I used too, but I always return to them when I'm feeling astray, it may pass days weeks or months till I listen again, but it's always an inner journey. Their sound is so pure, and so are their intentions. Peace and may the mystic power of the Dragonflame burn in your heart!

Wow. There are so many great Rhapsody songs... of every Rhapsody band there is :'D quite a complicated history: they were first called Rhapsody, but because of legal reasons they had to change their name to Rhapsody of Fire. Then the band split in two and you still had Rhapsody of Fire, with original singer Fabio Lionel, as well as Luca Turilli's Rhapsody (which you listened to in the video). At some point Lione decided to quit Rhapsody of Fire. After an anniversary tour of Rhapsody of fire with former band members, Turilli (guitarist) and Lionel decided they wanted to work together again, so they formed Turilli/Lione Rhapsody. No joke. But it's all lots of good music. I actually saw Luca Turilli's Rhapsody live when their first album came out, it was a really fun show and the singer (can't remember his name...) was pretty awesome as well as the soprano they had on tour with them (a different one than in this video I believe) Someone correct me if I got something wrong. :D Anyway, a good reaction to good music.

The man behind the mic for LT's RHAPSODY first incarnation was Alessandro Conti, presently chasing dragons for TWILIGHT FORCE. That guy has some mad pipes, bringing his own charisma in how he is able go way up there without sounding a bit wimpy or in any way off. Surely I am still partial to the appeal of Fabio Lione's distinctive manly timbre, but Conti is / was a find. I even went exploring his other bands at the time, and mostly those were nice pick-ups as well (TRICK OR TREAT! :)). P. S.: Soo, this IS a recording featuring Alessandro Conti! I somehow thought it was gonna be Lione. You will love it either way. I'm sorry I don't recall the name of the lady soprano, she must be one of Luca Turilli's "regulars", juuust escapes me. P. S. 2: Having not listened to "Prometheus" for neigh on 2 years, I almost forgot how awesome in the true sense of the word that latin chorus was!

YAY! Great to see a Rhapsody reaction, thank you so much, I really enjoyed this! Rhapsody don't get anywhere near the love and attention they deserve, maybe because of all the confusing name changes and then the band splitting in two, as already mentioned. The genius of it all, in my mind, is Luca Turilli. Very inspired by classical music, his compositions are almost always like this; powerful, melodic and complex. A lot of stuff going on! Vocalists here are Alessandro Conti, nowadays of "Trick or Treat" and "Twilight Force", and Emilie Ragni, she does soprano vocals on all the more recent Rhapsody albums where Luca Turill is involved. There is loads more to check out with Rhapsody, they started out in the 90s. "Reign of Terror" and "Unholy Warcry" are good options. For more recent work from Alessandro Conti, check "Dawn of the Dragonstar" or "Queen of Eternity" by Twilight Force.

On the album this song (and most of their songs) have choirs going on most of the time. In some live performances in the end it sounds kinda "empty", as they can't have the choir while touring. I think the addition of the soprano here (Emilie Ragni) is doing a lot of heavy lifting by emulating the feeling of having a choir all by herself.

i dont like the mix. her voice is way too loud. In the original record she is just backing vocals. Listen to "il Cigno nero"live instead.
