The Orchestral sounds are recorded at Angel Studios by London Philharmonic musicians under direction of Philip Malcolm "Pip" Williams, I don't know how that translates to or works through Tuomas his keyboards to be honest.

Storytime from Nightwish 7th Album , Imaginaerum , that album sold double platinum in Finland on the day when it was released ... interview with Tuomas about this album . Chaos Tube: Tuomas Holopainen interview in Helsinki 12th of Oct. 2011 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZu5e5aNn5yXZ5Y&feature=emb_logo 14 min 14 sec The movie part Tuomas said to , Loudersound ... The Finnish government has agreed to provide a grant of £365 000 towards its full budget of £2,3 million which will help to relieve the financial burden. But if it should flop at the box office, that’s a gigantic amount of the band’s own cash to lose ... and it flopped , big way .

Yeah guys, I wanted to mention that I was recently at another site, and the usual accolades were being presented... Anyway, there was a listener/viewer that acknowledged that Floor was probably the most versatile singer out there, but he didn’t think she was the best at anything. I’d like to express my disagreement here! True, there’s a lot of great vocalists out there, but NO ONE has so consistently caused the emotions that I feel when Floor sings! She has an inane ability to make people feel what she intends. For me, she’s one of, if not THE best singer(s) OF ALL TIME! Pick a genre, and she’ll NAIL IT! Amen. 🤟🏻👍🏻🤟🏻🤙🏻

I agree, also Floor is a empath, she feels emotions deeply, she sings from the heart, she is not just singing like a lot of other singers do, she is living it, i also get very emotional when Floor sings, its the vibe she puts out...ps, whoever said that about Floor is wrong, totally wrong, Floor is a perfectionist...

@Drinckx2
@Drinckx2 3 жыл бұрын
Agreed. She is extraordinary: talent aside, her ability to make so many people feel emotion is beyond what most singers can achieve. No other singer has that affect on me and I’ve been listening to singing for my 50+ years on the planet. Discovering her only a few months back was a revelation. And I love singers from Sarah Vaughan to Billy Holiday to Aretha Franklin to Ann Wilson to Elizabeth Fraser (Cocteau Twins) and many more just covering female vocalists and Floor is the best I’ve heard. The problem with her versatility - the Swiss Army knife of singing - is that people confuse that with the concept of ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’. I think she is the master of all trades.

The website Songfacts.com says: "The Finnish symphonic metal band Nightwish's seventh long player, Imaginaerum, is a concept album telling the story of an old composer on his deathbed, reminiscing of his youth. This is the lead single, which was released on November 11, 2011. The song is about the 1982 animated movie The Snowman. Band leader Tuomas Holopainen told Metal Hammer magazine: "It's such cool stuff, and I think that 'Walking In The Air' is the best piece of music ever composed, so [I thought], 'let's do a remake of that'!" The song spent four weeks at #1 on the Finnish Singles charts. It was Nightwish's twelfth chart-topper in their home country."

A painter on the shore Imagined all the world Within a snowflake on his palm Unframed by poetry A canvas of awe Planet Earth falling back into the stars [Chorus] I am the voice of Never, Never Land The innocence, the dreams of every man I am the empty crib of Peter Pan A silent kite against the blue, blue sky Every chimney, every moonlit sight I am the story that will read you real Every memory that you hold dear [Verse 2] I am the journey I am the destination I am the home The tale that reads you A way to taste the night The elusive high Follow the madness Alice you know once did Imaginarium, a dream emporium! Caress the tales And they will dream you real A storyteller's game Lips that intoxicate The core of all life Is a limitless chest of tales... [Chorus] I am the voice of Never, Never Land The innocence, the dreams of every man I am the empty crib of Peter Pan A silent kite against the blue, blue sky Every chimney, every moonlit sight I am the story that will read you real Every memory that you hold dear [Post-Chorus] I am the voice of Never, Never Land The innocence, the dreams of every man Searching heavens for another earth... After Forever and Nightwish have toured together and they also saw eachother and hung out many times during festival season and in the club circuit all over Europe. Floor and Tarja are actually good friends. After Tarja, Tuomas' 1st choice was Floor, but she wasn't available at the time, because she was still with After Forever. With Anette, Tuomas purposefully chose a different type of vocalist so fans couldn't compare her to Tarja. When After Forever was disbanded Floor felt lost and sought her own way by forming ReVamp. After Anette, Tuomas asked Floor (on her sister Irene's wedding day) to step in as an interim vocalist for the remainder of the tour, with indeed only 48 hours to learn the setlist. Floor was recovering from a burnout at the time, so her band ReVamp was temporarily at a standstill. From there on everything unfolded exactly the way it was supposed to. The band has never been more of a tight unit as they are now, even after Marko left. Since Floor joined, all band members could finally relax and sincerely enjoy themselves again. That's obviously visible when you watch the faces of the band members closely on stage during the Buenos Aires 2012 and Wacken 2013 show.

Charlotte Wessels (Delain) Dianne van Giersbergen (Xandria, Ex-Libris) Marcela Bovio (MaYaN, Stream of Passion) and of course Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation) [ed: thx Harald]. Just have a look and listen some time ;)

Floor is (by her own declaration) a sneeze over 6'. However, she tends to wear 3-4" heels when performing, so.... Her sister Irene is 6'1". And for what it's worth, 13-year old Angelina Jordan is now over 6'.

I haven't seen other comments but the 2013 Wacken performance seems crisper, brighter and more visceral in the mix, including her vocals. Thoughts?

hm, might be, but nonetheless I like both shows equally. Tampere has more of a live feeling, and Wacken sounds like it could come straight from the studio. For this particular song, I actually do prefer the Tampere version since in the bridge the backing tape of the choir doesn't feel so dominant as in the Wacken one and so what Floor is doing in that particular part is more prominent. Also love the interactions on stage in Tampere a bit more :D

12:16 Actually there is one song that Tuomas sang, one of their first songs, "The Carpenter" (now sung by Troy). Listen to it, you will know, why he and Tarja decided that Tuomas singing voice shall never be heard again on a track... 😉

Please, do some Therion! Everything from the albums Vovin and Secret of the Runes is good. They were pioneers in symphonic metal and are fucking great. I can also recommend a song from another album that is great, their cover of La Maritza is fantasticic. Actually most of their album with french covers is great.

After surviving the 82.000 in Wacken as a winner, about 20.000 smtg might be quite casual 😃 But still, it's nothing but a everyday performance. She's just all in. As always. Or,maybe that's just how it is for the valcyries ❤️

I totally agree with you that Nightwish is the best symphonic metal band in the world, but I must arrange with a female voice, because with a male voice, the best symphonic metal band is Rhapsody of Fire.

Well allow "a dark Poet" to help you a little with the lyrics, Storytime is for the Imaginaerum Album wich deals with the power of imagination (there is also a movie if you a curious) Basicall Tuomas begins the story of "storytime" by saying, before there where Authors, Poets, Herolds, Skalds what ever there where no dreams no Lyrics and Poetry (tuomas uses words) and nobody could tell about his phantasy or dreams and keept them for them self. Then one Evening a Storyteller by a fire gathered all his guts and took the journey deep in side him telling all at the fire with him about his Phantasies and Dreams and Storytelling was born The Chorus then is a masterpiece of art it self " I am the voice of never, never land The innocence, the dreams of every man I am the empty crib of Peter Pan, A soaring kite against the blue, blue sky Every chimney, every moonlit sight I am the story that will read you real Every memory that you hold dear" so you ask who am I?, Iam Imagination YOUR Imagination as in my Imagiation or Tuomases Imagination wich made him able to compose this Song. Because Memorys are just us reimagining MOments we hold dear from a time gone by. "Iam the story that will read you real" well maybe you expierienced that you self once in a while you read about something and in your head you start thinking " what would i do, wouldnt it be great if i could do that" and then you start studiying, training , learning an instrument or a new language...well young man thats when the story reads you real :) to Tuomases Setup: Toumas usally uses 3 Keyboards to the time of this video he uses the Korg N364 (wich is the Nightwish Keyboard for us Keyboard playing fans, cause the big strings sample of the N364 gives yoiu that Nightwish choppy string sound) wich is usally the keyboard on top, its was the first Keyboard ever bought in 1994, Then here is the Korg Karma on his left side wich he uses usally for bell sounds, and his main Keyboard at that time is the Korg Kronos a 4k Multisampler Beast wich sounds yyou couldnt tell from the real deal if you really wanted...in my humble opinion

Since I'm much more familiar with the Wacken version of this song, I need to ask this: I never really noticed the backing vocal track (not the choir) during the verse in that one. Did they edit it out in post? Or did the Wacken version just not have any?

Not sure how your streaming setup works, or how hard this would actually be, but if you wanted to get him on stream to react more often, would it be possible to use discord for his voice/video and then use something like watch together so you are both watching at the same time? Again just throwing an idea out there as I don't stream so unsure how hard this would be. Anyways, as always cheers for the reaction, looking forward to the Wacken stream (i'll set an alarm so I can join in on this one ;))
