Seem to be recorded 2019 , released 2020 , Tuomas Holopainen said that the track (on the record) was inspired by the soundscape of the show Stranger Things. Nightwish stated on January 22, 2020, that they became the "first band ever to be given permission" to do a photo shoot in the "legendary Cathedral that is the Natural History Museum, London," ... Blabbermouth Floor Jansen have had 2 singing tutorials on her channel , she do remind people her education is 20 years old and to seek a vocal coach , but mirror is a good help in training .

She taught voice for over ten years and does four videos on voice, breath etc. She is amazing for sure. I only found her n Nightwish in December 21..and as much as I've become a super fan, I feel I've been cheated, not knowing about them on American radio..you're great too. Found them in a reaction of GLS.

Tuomas, the composer and writer for all of the Nightwish songs, said in a preview for this song that sometimes it’s important to ask strangers, loved ones, and yourself, “how’s the heart?” The second verse was also written for Floor specifically about how her and her husband met. “Now there’s one who came from me” is about the birth of her daughter.

There's a Nightwish song out there (Yours Is An Empty Hope) where she sings a duet with Marco - the bass player. Then you notice a very deep growl in the duet and for a second you'll imagine it's Marco ..... until you realise Marco is actually singing cleanly and its Floor making those deep growling noices.

Listen to the whole new Album "Human Nature" where this song is also from. Listen the album in order as it has deeper meaning and also listen to the 2nd CD which comes with this Album. CD1 is about Human and 2nd CD about nature but you will encounter a big twist when you go to CD2 ;-) CD 2 also has to be listened to as a whole as it is one big song actually :-) As others suggested research the meanings of the Songs. This album is also the first time where also Marco and Troy got their own songs and also all 3 sings more often together. It sounds so good. Troy sings in "Harvest" and Marco in "Endlessness". Troy joined the band at the same time officially as Floor getting a permanent member of Nightwish. He played before as guest musician. I'm so glad they added him to the band. He adds so much more possibilities to the band. He is a Multi Instrumentalist so he plays Guitar, Flutes, Uilean Pipes and whistles etc. Marco is also a good vocalist. Check out songs like "The Islander (live at Tampere) or "Kiss while your lips are still red" (The Wembley live version as it has good sound and also includes Troy on the e-Bow Guitar and Floor as the backing singer for Marco. You can also check out a lot from the Buenos Aires 2018 Concert on KZbin. There they played a lot of older songs, reimagined a little with Floor and Troy. Songs like "Dead boys poem" or "Kinslayer" etc. are so good. Most of this songs are written by Tuomas, the Keyboarder. And a lot of times with his personal influences and stories. Once you have researched them a little more get yourself comfortable with the big big backstory of their first Singer Tarja and the breakup with the band and how bad it actually was (even Finish politics joined the debate). Best to read the open letter of Nightwish to their first singer which then also urged Tuomas to do musical suicide and clean his soul in the song "The poet and the pendelum" 2nd longest song of Nightwish today. Search for the Wembley version with Floor singing it and not their 2nd Singer Annette Olzon which has been replaced by Floor. In this song you hear why Floor is an empath and why it affects how she does the songs. It even made Tuomas turn off the vocals during this song so that he only heard the band! When you have done this path you should watch the full Tampere concert which finalizes with the song "The greatest show on earth", the longest song so far of Nightwish. The whole album and this song is backed on the book of Richard Dawkins about evolution etc. He even supported the band in the Wembley concert by coming onto the stage and closing of the song by reading his own lyrics. The sound quality and production of the Tampere concert is just better but definitely also watch the Wembley end of this song seeing freaking out thousands of metal fans seeing a man of science coming to stage :-) Music and lyrics with a meaning paired with singers who can transport the message and emotion is something you don't see that much anymore. One point to mention is the rest of the orchestral part. It is not done on PC or samples. They actually hired the London london philharmonic orchestra to do the classical pieces. You will find that important on the 2nd CD of Human Nature ;-)

It's really interesting. To most trained ears, no one is ever TOTALLY in control. The true master singer is able to cover up any moments of hesitation or when the physical mechanism naturally is being temperamental. Her ability to be in tune with her body and instrument is so amazing that it's not even worth commenting on the slight adjustments she makes. It's the sign of a true once-in-a-generation master of the voice.

Great reaction and analysis. Another really interesting skill set that Floor has is the ability to change her vocal placement word to word and note to note allowing her to float around between various timbres and dynamics. She does this for storytelling purposes in a bunch of performances. Some great examples you could look at: Floor Jansen - Alone (the new one on her channel), Nightwish - Dead Boy's Poem live from Buenos Aires 2018, Floor Jansen & Henk Poort - Phantom of the Opera (they cover the Nightwish arrangement of it).

This song definitely needed some attention, it's kind of underrated, thank you for the reaction! I hope you continue this nightiwsh journey, there is so much to discover. You definitely need to listen to Marco's voice he is such a great singer, nightwish has a pink floyd cover high hopes, definitely recommended or sing duet with Tarja in the phantom of the opera.

When talking about the Dutch teaching their citizens English don't underestimate the power of subtitles over dubbing English speaking movies and TV shows. Some of the European nations where they speak very basic and poor English are Spain, Italy, Germany, France, all nations that dub over English speaking. Some of the best nations in Europe when it comes to speaking English in Europe are Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, all nations that subtitle English speaking. P.S. I ofc didn't mention the UK and Ireland since it's their native language. D.S.

Didn't expect another one so soon, haha. Glad you're enjoying it. Something you already picked up on that I think is very distinct in her singing is that no matter what register she goes to, there's always a warm quality to her voice, so it goes beyond just having a great range. Of course, I guess having such seemingly big chest and mouth cavities for a female singer helps with the resonance, but aside from her inate gifts I can't even imagine how many hours she has put into her craft.

Offering my take for what it may be worth, and only now having heard the entire (acoustic) version. The song (text, tune, performance) is a tender outreach to the lost, lonely and dispossessed, and a call for empathy (from THE empath). I wondered why she went "belty" at the last, and it struck me that the gentle ballad was leveraged into an anthem and a call to action. Your reaction enticed me to give the song an entire chance (never finished it before because it did not grab me, as the lyric video version did), so for that, my thanks. Cheers.

Aw Sonny, thank you! I'm glad you think so! I don't really know what other reactors do, but everything here started with a small group of singers that I would teach on stream. They started asking for insights on their favorite singers, and once we started putting those on KZbin, the group grew. My goal is to keep everything organic like that and driven by the priorities of helping singers and music lovers connect with the human voice on a deeper level. Glad you're here!

Floor is not from Earth. She doesn't come from another galaxy, nope, she comes from another universe, very, very far away. She is a goddess in disguise, and just landed here to stay a while in a human body, to bring us divine magic, to heal us all, to bring us joy and let us experience the deepest human emotions possible. And when you meet her, and she starts talking her endless wisdom, she plays the role of the humble, tiny bit shy vocalist, as a cover up for who-, and where from, she really is. This woman is insane. She can sing -everything. And she can perform every human emotion possible. I have never seen a woman in my life with so much power, femininity, charisma, sexyness, stamina, lovelyness, versatility and true vocal perfection. It is just impossible she is human. How can you not fall in love with this woman. She is a true magical, musical artistic medicine for humankind.

This song is one of my absolute favorites. The message is so beautiful: kindness, caring and love. The album version has a steady hard rock beat. But this acoustic version is more emotional due to intimate live setting. Floor explained her techniques on her masterclass videos. In short: relaxed jaw and breath support by stomach muscles.Haha, like I understanded anything about it. 😅
@BigBrainSinger
@BigBrainSinger 3 жыл бұрын
She's absolutely right though. And what's beautiful about it is the fact that those are the core, basic building blocks of singing but are still the KEY to accessing technique such as this.

Floor sings O Mio Babbino Caro as well as Phantom of the Opera. Not many of the reaction vids tend to cover the Puccini aria. People get strikes pretty easily when covering Phantom from that Beste Zangers show, though, so be careful. Don't mind me I'm just an old veteran of the NIghtwish Army roaming through in this pandemic world. Since you like the really technical stuff there's no real shortage on Nightwish songs both past and present. I recommend the End of an Era concert from the Tarja era of Nightwish if you like some mezzo soprano. Tarja's cover of Muse's Supremacy at Milan is also good (don't use the woodstock version, the audio is shite). It's easy to say Floor is technically better, but there is a richness to Tarja's voice I could never dislike. A good example of that would be if you compared the Tarja/Floor versions of Nightwish's Nemo song. Also definitely listen to Nightwish songs that have Marko singing and you will end up loving his voice as well. I've heard an opera singer reaction that brought up forment structure with regards to how well Marko can harmonize with both Tarja and Floor even when the voices individually don't sound like they would work well together (Phantom of the Opera and End of an Era for example). The Islander is a Nightwish song with Marko singing lead. Cheers, dude. I followed you on Twitch.
