Let me get this straight: Japanese creators can make games set in America, starring American characters in American culture (ex. Resident Evil, Catherine, Devil May Cry 5), and no problems arise. But when Sucker Punch painstakingly crafts a game world rich in Japanese history, customs and culture, with respectful taste, based on historical events, also as an homage to Akira Kurosawa, it’s an outrage? These fake woke Twitter people never cease to disappoint with how low they’re willing to reach for topics to complain about and boycott that do NOT matter. Westerners seem to hate any creativity in fiction. Does everything have to be accurate in any way? Abstract art isn't historically depicting anything. People creating art, games, music should be free to make anything using real life things without keeping it real. This is why western things are dropping in quality. I remember the good old days when games like Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 were free to do whatever they want. If a game like that came out now, they'd be either something "inoffensive" or blasted with controversy. There were wars between humans and orcs just because of their species (remember Garithos?). I want to point out, there's a show called "COOL JAPAN". It's a program from "NHK World", Japan's National Government Channel. It's a show about celebrating Japanese Culture and they have foreigners from all over the world talk about why Japanese culture is cool. Last week they did an episode about Japanese Swords. You can find it on KZbin by searching "Cool Japan Japanese Swords". They showed an American man taking a class on how to be a Samurai. Foreigners can take a class where they dress up in samurai robe, learn how to wield a sword, chop up a straw post, and most importantly the Samurai mindset. They also showed a European Olympian who traveled to Japan just to learn how to make Japanese Swords and his master to taught him the art. If you don't pass down the art of Japanese sword making, it gets lost forever. Japan wants foreigners to celebrate their culture, while the westerners would easily bash this for "Cultural Appropriation".

They complained about the Ghost Of Tsushima event where they had a Japanese flute player on stage and they attacked & complained because the player was white and that "the Japanese should be furious". That man is literally one of the handful of people in the world who can even play a Japanese flute and is considered a master at playing it, apparently even being officially recognized by Japan as being a master at it after having spent almost decades in Japan being taught by other master Japanese flute players.

I mean Japan made a lot of games also anime and manga) borrowing from western culture, historical figures, lore, and myths, albeit not exactly historical, like JRPGs, Fire Emblem, Dark Souls, etc. And prominently historical fiction like MGS series, that incorporate many western history. Directed by Hideo Kojima, produced by Hideo Kojima. I guess that's a part of the reason why they don't really complain when others borrow a lil something from their history.
