Precisely. I have so frequently seen people just coldly judging some other person together, or a bunch of people ganging up on some youtubers over things like an opinion they expressed, or an aspect of their personal life that had been uncovered that I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why they had the right or reasoning to judge them on. The culture on there is absolutely ridiculous, I’d never make an account to join those unbelievably judgmental high horse weirdos that have nothing better to do but attempt to make them feel better about themselves by putting another person down. Especially frequently in these gang up style attacks.

@insidetrip1015 жыл бұрын
@@zembl4698 I simply don't agree that those are necessarily threats though. If one were tp say something like that and they're hundreds of miles away, then there's no way that it can be construed as a threat. People say dumb shit all the time. People have dumb violent fantasies all the time to make themselves feel better when they've been wronged. Saying such a thing isn't "obviously" a threat. Now, where I agree is that twitter is trying to distinguish between actual threats and people just blowing off steam and talking shit, but that's MY point, they shouldn't be doing that. Let the police handle that. Let the FBI handle that. Twitter shouldn't be in the business of trying to figure out whether someone can actually carry out what they're saying or not. For example, its my opinion--despite the current amount of school shootings and bombings--that we shouldn't suspend or expel teenagers--KIDS--for saying stupid things. Sure, we might prevent a disaster here or there, but we're doing so at causing a bunch of disasters in real kid's lives that they then have to carry around with them. And we do so purely on the basis because a kid "might" act on something. Maybe its time we stop being so overprotective about everything because that has real harmful consequences to people's lives too, its just no one talks about that.
@zembl46985 жыл бұрын
@@insidetrip101 Honestly I don't think it's very harmful to silence people that actually threaten people, whether it's from miles away or not, which is why they decided to take action. It's not a constructive conversation they're having, is it? Like I do agree with you to some extent, but the issue with this for me is something else. We can't just threaten people on the internet. I'd like it if people stopped posting shit as if they're anonymous because I'm sure as fuck a lot of people wouldn't say that to their face. You want a more ethical approach in things? Maybe we should stop normalizing being actual scum on the internet, no?

Joe keeps getting the story wrong. Journalists wrote an article saying coal miners should just learn to code - and nothing came of it - then the same journalists were going to lose their jobs (paper was downsizing or something) - they were whining about how important journalists are when someone told the journalists "learn to code". The term "learn to code" only became hate speech when it was turned around on the people who invented it.

Just about to write the same thing. Rhetoric manic. Makes her look incredibly dumb and starts to make everything she says seem automatically irrelevant... she’d have to be making a ton of money to look this transparently ridiculous and substantially superficial. Both of them respond to terms with I Don’t Know What That Means when they’ve set themselves up as dispensers of arbitrarily censoring based on understanding meaning they don’t know, motivations they haven’t researched, and contexts they haven’t delved into. Good grief. They’re so utterly passionless. When you can’t even muster enough energy to portray that you believe your own b.s. you know they’re merely resigned to their farce of a stance. Answering all the very specific questions and detailed queries with imprecise generalities and vagueness... Just own up that you set up algorithms to remove people and content, and that your algorithms are biased. Own that you’re sloppy and unmeasured, unbalanced and hypocritical. At the very least be honest that you’re a partisan platform, agenda driven, and that you react to reactions of preferred social, cultural, and political figures. Policy built on skewed cliff notes of an issue versus reading the book, yes it’s a time issue. I mean, it’s not that hidden. You have more users than you can keep up with on a platform created to communicate that wasn’t initially set up to police that now is overrunning you. So you cherry-pick what and who you go after based on your own proclivities. “I think we have a lot of work to do in explaining when we take actions and why” - yah, that’s evident. Not really a concession. So why didn’t you do that with this interview. Wasn’t that your purpose here? Fail.

I actually had to use my email to find my Twitter login and then reset my password to DL my info and delete. That says a lot about the effort to get rid of a social media account that's free instead of merely leaving inactive like Myspace. Facebook I DLed my info and just shucked a couple months ago because I had to delete messaging app n whatnot. But well worth getting rid of just looking to replace KZbin when gab or something else gets going better. Never bothered with Instaham thankfully. Social media has become obsolete in my opinion.

It's a private company, they can do what they want and you aren't mandated to use their service. Read up on your Conservatism 101 and push for something new instead of crying about it on a bloody youtube comment section. This really is the snowflake generation. I also implore you people to read Hayek & Friedman to gain an appreciation of the free market and the system you're blessed to live in. Lastly, Tim Pool supported the Occupy Wall Street movement and so I wouldn't be idolising someone who has no bearing of such systems. Perhaps a side effect of leaving school at 14.

There already is an alternative, several actually, but the one that gained most traction is Gab. Unfortunately, there commitment to free speech led to an influx of edgelords/racists/bigots that simply wanted to use the N-word or say outrageous things. Which in turn led to the platform being labled as alt-right, and then groups started lobbying banks to not do business with Gab, which worked with several banks getting Gab blacklisted from most major banks, starting with PayPal. And, that's just one of the ways larger (google subsidiary) platforms have used to crush their business.
