That's actually why he claims to be competent in this area, although the training he has is not anywhere near a doctor. And iirc, he has no legal right to diagnose and treat mental illnesses.

Chris has been playing the "morality" card since he started uploading on KZbin. He likes to pretend he's some kind of profound, worldly, always-right "therapist", when in reality he's nothing more than a sham with some kind of "holier than thou" complex. I'm convinced the only reason he feels this way is because he's overcome his addiction, but overcoming something in your life does NOT give you the right to prance around as some kind of mental health expert who can diagnose people after viewing a few of their videos with zero qualifications. No real psychologist or therapist would ever try to diagnose someone they have not met, and their only exposure being through KZbin or tv, because people tend to put a front or play a character. But despite all his "knowledge", he for some reason isn't aware of that. He actively participated in cancel culture until it effected him negatively. If that doesn't tell you what kind of person he is, I'm not sure what will.

I am a former psych major and a current psych minor (one class away). One thing we learn in a psych program is that you can't diagnose someone you do no meet and usually not even in one session. People may show symptoms of certain disorders, especially public figures but we do not know them personally and have not talked to them. Also, owning a copy of the DSM does not make you qualified to talk about others having disorders. Since I am a current human services major now and want to still work in mental health and will actually be interviewing at for an internship for a crisis chat line, we are told we are not therapists and that counselors and therapists are COMPLETELY different. A counselor listens to what you have to say and can "counsel" you on certain things you are trained to counsel on. For example, if I get this internship, I will be going through over 50 hours of training on how to do this job, but I won't be diagnosing people or treating them or prescribing medicine, I will be someone who will listen to those in pain and need help in a crisis. It looks like this guy is going into drug and alcohol counseling, which will give him only the ability to talk about people going through that and counseling those he has met for that specific problem. He has no leg to stand on when it comes to this subject. When it comes to canceling, if someone fucks up once or twice, let's see them grow. But if someone pretends to be an expert on a subject when it turns out he has no formal training on it, yes, he needs to be canceled and I think the instructors of the program he is in to become certified need to take a look at this and see if he should be removed from the program. Especially when you told him that you had high-functioning autism and that telling someone with that to "grow up" is just insulting and he responded condescendingly and then gave you an affiliate link to an online therapist along with connecting KZbin commentators to mass shooters without a real link other than being white boys from the suburbs.

As a former addict and future professional in the field, this guy is a disgrace. Seems like he took the simplified education you get in rehab and felt like he was qualified to offer advice and guidance to others. Offering support to other addicts is one thing. But there's a reason we reserve analysis of mental health conditions to professionals. A lot of behaviors can be misleading. Especially if you're using KZbin videos as examples of said behavior. Also, the way he pushes BetterHelp irks me. E-Therapy is really only appropriate in certain situations and mostly as a step DOWN from face to face therapy. And it IS NOT appropriate for someone who has never seen an outpatient therapist and/or has never been formally diagnosed. Also, their billing practices are rather shady...
