I thought I was over my TWiV addiction and was only watching every third episode. And then H5N1 started being interesting... Good job, guys.

The original veterinarian who first reported it in Texas, Dr Barbara Peterson, said most of the Farms she visited many of the undocumented migrant Farm Workers were sick with conjuvitis and flu-like symptoms and that was back in March.

Commercially farmed cows are fed ground up chickens mixed with sawdust. This was eventually going to happen.

Down here in Texas cattle country, we all know the cattle feed is composed of poultry waste. Seems to us the feed ,may be the problem.

Dead chickens are ground up and mixed with fillers like corn and sawdust. This is then fed to cows. The meat and corn cause stomach ulcers in cows which is why they are then given antibiotics.

Excellent program. This particular situation illustrates how important veterinary medicine is to our understanding and surveillance of The virus and it’s spread to different animals. When cows and chickens aren’t feeling well, they don’t make an appointment with their local family practice clinic. Of course, they are seen by veterinarians, whose profession does not get near the respect it deserves.

Almost as an aside, I just read “ Feral cats and seagulls on Isla de Guadalupe often steal milk directly from the teats of the elephant seals that live on the island. The cats tap (and the seagulls, peck) the heads of the suckling baby seals, which causes them to retreat, and then they drink the milk that is dripping from the teat…” Or maybe oxpeckers play a role. They are parasitic on hippos, which are related to cetaceans, as well as on cows, deer, sheep…also related to cetaceans. I suppose grass-fed cows consume bird droppings, but their udders aren’t that accessible. But how about flies? Especially Horn Flies. I know they bite cows, often around their udders, causing mastitis, and that ducks eat horn flies. But do horn flies eat ducks? Just asking. 🤪

Q about 'boosting the immune system'. ZOE has shown that a healthy gut microbiome can have a big indirect effect on the immune system. There seems to be a lot we can do there. ZOE recommends at least 30 different vegetables, fruit & nuts per week are helpful as are a couple of cups of black coffee a day for its polyphenols and also a couple of squares of >72% dark chocolate for the same reason.

What about having a wild bird feeder in the backyard with the risk of infecting chickens and domestic geese who frequent the same yard?

More on passive inmunization.... But in this case is would diking pausterized milk (that caontained active virus when raw) induce seroconversion against H5N1?

Did we know at what tissue temperature did SARS COV2 new variants better replicate ? Because If SARS COV2 better replicate at low tissue temperature must maintain higher mucouseal respiratory temperature to mitigate infection. Maybe even fever occur,mask wearing maintain higher mucouseal respiratory temperature ? Maybe warmed oxigen mix at body temperature can be used If SARS COV2 infection occur, especially If cryoglobuline IgM antibody occur also ?

Wait if the virus is made non-functional by pasteurization, but RNA is still detected (if I heard/understood that right?), could we be accidentally vaccinating of a sort members of the general populace, at least among those who drink milk?

Especially given the original etymology of the word "vaccine", that would be kinda extra humorous if it were so.

@@marklemont3735 Unfortunately?? So you're arguing in favor of universal clandestine vaccination? Only the expert class would have the knowledge of what the plebians were being forced to receive? Milk does have cell on it.... Is somatic cells, that Why it looks like calostrum?
@JohnRoss16 ай бұрын
Somatic cell counts are used to determine udder health. In an individual cow it indicates a low grade infection that is not clinical. High somatic cell counts on a herd level indicates a health issue and the milk could be refused for pickup or penalized. Mastitis it the udder reacting to an Infection and shedding damaged tissue. Not clear from this talk whether to cow recovers from the virus.
