The idea that grandparents are thoughtful enough to ask about getting vaccine booster to protect their newborn grandchild restores my faith in humanity. ☮️❤️

*H5N1 in Raw Milk* (0:14 - 8:15) * There's a trend of people drinking raw milk to gain immunity to H5N1 bird flu. (2:18) * The Raw Milk Institute sets standards for raw milk production, but these standards don't guarantee the milk is free of pathogens. (3:18 - 5:06) * The concern is that drinking raw milk could lead to aerosolization and infection in the upper respiratory tract, even if the virus replicates in the gut. (8:15 - 11:36) *COVID-19 Update* (14:56 - 15:47) * COVID-19 cases are currently low across the US, but the virus is still circulating. (14:56 - 15:10) * AstraZeneca has withdrawn its COVID-19 vaccine from the European market due to concerns about clotting. (16:18 - 16:51) * A large study found a signal for certain adverse events, like myocarditis and pericarditis, after vaccination, but the incidence remains very low compared to severe events from COVID-19 infection. (17:04 - 21:41) *COVID-19 Treatment* (21:47 - 26:31) * The IDSA and NIH guidelines for COVID-19 treatment emphasize the importance of risk assessment and personalized care. (21:53 - 22:37) * Colchicine, which was once considered a promising treatment, is not recommended for the acute or inflammatory phases of COVID-19 due to concerns about data quality. (23:20 - 26:31) *Long COVID Research* (26:43 - 29:03) * The NIH is launching new clinical trials for long COVID, focusing on sleep disturbances, exercise intolerance, and post-exertional malaise. (26:48 - 27:12) * Trials will test drugs like modafinil, solriam, and melatonin (27:19 - 27:54), as well as exercise programs and structured pacing. (28:08 - 29:03) *Long COVID Apps* (29:08 - 32:31) * There are now several apps available to track and manage long COVID symptoms. (29:27 - 29:40) * These apps can help with symptom monitoring, data collection, and connecting with resources. (31:59 - 32:31) *HPV Vaccination* (33:11 - 36:41) * HPV vaccination can prevent cervical cancer and other HPV-associated cancers, but the current vaccine might not protect against all oncogenic HPV variants. (33:11 - 35:00) * There is no clear evidence that HPV vaccination is beneficial after exposure to an oncogenic HPV variant. (35:47 - 36:41) *Pneumonia Vaccines* (36:53 - 37:58) * Adults should discuss their pneumonia vaccination status with their doctor to determine if they need a booster dose. (36:53 - 37:13) * The current recommendation is to receive Prevar 13 followed by PPSV23, and then possibly Prevenar 20 depending on individual risk factors. (37:13 - 37:58) *COVID-19 Vaccination Hesitancy* (46:29 - 48:09) * It's important to have open and informed conversations with patients about COVID-19 vaccination and the benefits of getting boosted. (46:29 - 47:18) * The risk of adverse events from vaccination is significantly lower than the risk of severe illness from COVID-19 infection. (47:18 - 48:09) i used gemini 1.5 pro and flash prompt 1 (flash): create a bullet list summary. i dont want to watch the video. give me a summary with all the important points: video description, transcript prompt 2 (pro): add the timestamps from the transcript

Also a fan of Dr Seheult. I’ve not had Covid yet, but when I do get it I’ll definitely try the hydrotherapy/heating regimen he has talked about, as well as NIR light exposure.

H5N1: Osterholm CIDRAP update 157 reported on a new preprint finding the human receptor Alpha2.6 in bovine udders. Not good to have this in cattle as well as pigs. Increases the risk of recombinant variants developing in cattle and possibly transferring to humans. Any comment?

I have had 7 shots and a mild case of Covid almost 2 years ago. My last shot was in December. I have never had a bad reaction to any of my shots. I am 68 and very healthy, no heart disease, diabetes, etc. My doctor who is a gerontologist recommends one booster a year at present. I think that I will have a booster in the late summer or early fall unless there’s a summer surge.

I want to thank the good Drs. for addressing the Vaccine AESI article, I was one of the people who emailed them about it. To be clear, I am very pro-vaccination for SARs Cov 2, along the lines of Dr. Offit's communications. But I'm hoping they would address the age stratification concerns Vinay Prasad brings up in his recent analysis of this. Just saying Covid is worse than vaccine dangers is too coarse a summary to really clear up the issues being raised. Maybe a future TWIV topic?

Benjamin Franklin had gout? That relieves me..."great men" get ill, it sounds comforting somehow...It's all lies though. It's (mostly, like most illnesses) caused by people eating and drinking too much and or smoking. I stopped drinking any alcohol some years ago. I don't miss it. In British novels I read or US novels, everyone is drinking as soon as they get home or taking drugs (not proscribed) that harm them, not exercising enough and so on. So it is human behaviour that is something to look at, as much as the medical stuff. But Franklin, it has always fascinated me his sending a kite up in an electrical storm! He was almost a case of curiosity killing the cat...still one has to admire him for getting out in the storm....being so interested....

The viewers points on the costs of Paxlovide in EU, is what anyone coming from a 'public health' practicing country knows - it is much worse treatment on the individual level than US private insurance. While US health care costs more on paper (assuming you have medical insurance), in practice on annual basis, getting that same treatment quality and materials in public health facilities is just not possible/would cost more than even the US charges. Examples are drugs and treatments not covered by the public insurance, very long wait times for any specialists, consideration of costs to the public in physicians minds driving treatment decisions, slow adoption of new technologies, and more. Everything has its pros and cons. Thank you for keeping up these updates!

This is a lie. Have any of You lived overseas? The bias toward the US lack of healthcare is a disgrace. Brainwashed Americans believe the nonsense in this post. More than 50 countries, with healthcare, live longer than Americans. This includes Cuba & El Salvador.
