It’s so sad to hear a doctor describing what he and his colleagues go through every day at work, seeing people under their care dying from the results of catching this virus, and yet there are millions of people out there, some of them my acquaintances saying this is hoax and that it is not worse than a flu. It is mind boggling.

Exactly why the public has such little faith in “science” which is SO unfortunate. But when these docs keep showing their faces, saying “tisk, tisk, my patient is dying” and remdesivir or steroids is all they get on their death beds, the rest of us have to fend for ourselves. Ivermectin is still missing from the conversation.

I have not done much research so far, but the senior health officials in the UK (Chris Whitty, etc) have said that a mutation has resulted in a variant of the virus has occurred, including changes to N501Y, which is part of the RBD of the spike protein, which has increased transmissibility by 70%. My interpretation is that this means that R0 has increased from 2.5 to 4.25, which has huge implications and pushes herd immunity over 75%. It also means that light mitigation measures will not work and that hard lock-down will be necessary. It also has an impact on vaccination, not necessarily on the effectiveness of the vaccine, but on the uptake required for herd immunity.

What about immunity conferred by infection? In discussion of vaccination rates and herd immunity, it seems to have been forgotten. In the US, confirmed infections stand at 18.7 million, or 5.6% of the population. Undiagnosed infections have in recent months been presumed to be four to ten times confirmed ones. This would mean that, assuming a modest multiple of four, total infections have reached 28%. Isn't the US then at least a third of the way to herd immunity already? Why would anyone suppose that anything near 100% vaccination will be required, or even 80%? And infections aren't standing still. They are rapidly rising. At 200k newly confirmed infections a day, that's another 9% of the population a month, including undiagnosed and asymptomatic infections. By the end of February, then, on present trends, 28% grows to 49%. How can a 49% incidence of infection not matter? I don't get it. Professor Racaniello? Dr. Griffin? Hello?

Don't waste your effort on them; when somebody doesn't want to do their job, there's no point trying to convince them to, best you'll get is they do a bad job, they're no good to you. Just keep trying different docs until you speak to one who you don't have to fight to convince. Reach out to others on social media etc, there will be groups of people sharing experiences and support, see if you can find anyone local who has had a good experience with a doc they can recommend. I don't know if there's anything they can actually do yet, but as it could take a while finding someone useful, is good to get started so you have someone who will help when they can. Also, keep an eye out (online) for any trials or research studies who are looking for people like you; it's the only way any answers can be found. Um... maybe some magnesium supplements, our populations are becoming increasingly magnesium deficient as it disappears from our soil, and the less magnesium you have, the slower the rate you can burn sugars for fuel, leading to the obesity and diabetes we see in our populations, making it a root cause of covid co-morbidities. I've no reason to believe it's linked to post-COVID syndrome, but it is a hurdle to having any energy that no one needs at the best of times. Most people would want to aim in the 200-400mg/day range, but I don't know anything about you, so don't assume this is good advice for you specifically. I'd say to do your own research, and it is always good practice, but don't expect your average doctor to know about the magnesium problem, it seems almost completely unknown. Good luck!

@@ovrjoyd Who's not allowing you to? Some people are under the impression that the FDA does not allow when this is not true at all but rather it is the doctor's discretion. You need a doctor who thinks outside of the box. I have such a doctor and the only reason I found him was through him specializing in HRT for women (HRT is but one example for doctors who typically (but not always) think outside the box) and he also sees patients who just need a regular MD for other health issues. Any drug that is not outright banned by the FDA and Ivermectin is not may be used off label with different dosing, in the exact same way millions of drugs are used off label by doctors all of the time! yourappointment in hopes that they will read them before you see your doctor. Do still bring another set of copies of the studies to your appointment just in case and try to go over them with your doctor as to why you want the higher dosage. That said, hopefully you will find a doctor who has already read the studies and knows that it takes a higher dose to be effective. Navigating the western medical health care system is difficult at best- I know from over 2 decades of dealing with it myself. If at all possible you would do well to have a patient advocate with you to assist in your healing journey. Hope that helps and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions related to medical care in the US.

If I had Covid already and the blood test shows that I have antibodies, do I need to get the Vaccine?
@annoloki
@annoloki 3 жыл бұрын
Antibodies may disappear within a few months. The vaccine would likely have a stronger effect if it is had when antibody levels are lower... the vaccine makes cells produce spike like proteins, which blood test is probably looking for antibodies to... lots of antibodies would just neutralise the spike proteins quickly, using up those antibodies, but stopping the immune system from finding so much to react to. Personally, I'd give antibodies at least a chance to lower first, so, not get the vaccine within a couple months of infection, unless I was at higher risk of serious disease, in which case, I wouldn't pay too much attention to a youtube comment that is just guessing :-)
@rubiesrred7042
@rubiesrred7042 3 жыл бұрын
I agree with Annoloki, for now you can wait to get the vaccine and help push others ahead of the line who have not been infected and successfully cleared it like you have. MRNA vaccines are for protection from disease severity (90-100%) and perhaps with a good ability to block asymptomatic disease (67%) as the Dr Griffin presented. As reinfections are still somewhat rare (a second infection with a phylogenetically distinct version of C-19 from your first infection) then consider if you are high risk for exposure ( lifestyle or work - work around a lot of people or travelers) then as your antibody titres go down, go for the jab.
@rasmasyean
@rasmasyean 3 жыл бұрын
In principle, the vaccine should simulate a "strong virus" without actually causing the bio damage of a real one. Your body will thus adapt to fight it. So if you had a really mild case, you might not have a strong memory. I mean, look at the hardest hit area like NYC. Such a large second wave with much lower blip in deaths. Despite what they say about "reinfections with proof via genetically different virus exhibiting mutation over months in the wild", as of now I'm personally taking the stance that they are wrong that reinfection is rare. Practically, no one logs all that stuff like that. To ME, it looks like a brunt of the second wave there is reinfection of asymptomatics. gothamist.com/news/coronavirus-statistics-tracking-epidemic-new-york Note that the average endemic coronavirus memory is 12 months. I'm sure in that study, they didn't even include "endemic coronavirus asymptomatics". I mean, how would you have even found them? Furthermore, many still believe disease severity many be related to dosage. They jury is still out even though there's no "proof" here either via some paper. There's a mink study in another TWIV that says the minks aren't effected by higher dosage, but as we all know to beware by now..."mice lie and monkeys exaggerate, but minks are different?". lol
