Like how everything is clearly explained but my question is disconnecting the actual car battery. I hav3 a4 avant B8 (2011) would disconnecting cat battery result in having other issues that would cause programing issues with other things and would need to have a Audi shop reprogram your car?

hello the red led on my key does not light up only when I press lock, I changed the battery still the same the red led on the key lights up in the trunk opening or unlocking position i tried with my duplicate key and a new battery in it, the 3 red leds light up on the key when I press but neither the opening, nor the closing nor the trunk works I do not understand

For first key the switch for "lock" might be defective. For second key it sounds like it is not paired with your car.

@@UltimateDIY he lock switch is an integral part of the key? in this case why does the red LED flash on my second one but no opening works? what can I do immediately, a procedure to reprogram the 2 keys and/or disconnect the battery for 15/20 minutes?

The switch is just a microswitch that can break. You can try to disconect the battery for a while and see if it accepts the second key after, but I never had this issue, so I can't tell you any exact procedure.

That I don't know, for original keys.I bought my second key from a shop that copies car keys and they also did the programing with a dedicated tool. But it's not an original key.

Your actuator is bad. I'm dealing with the same issue. Just bought my b8. None of the doors locked. Changed out the f9 and f11 fuses in the trunk and driver side panel. Passenger door started locking. But now, none of them are locking. Not even the gas door.

Am also having a similar problem, the doors doesn't open with the remote I took out the metal key and it doesnt open the door either, we managed to open the trunk and jump the battery but the car is still not responding.

The metal key should open the driver door, at least, mechanically.

All I did, and it worked, was: unlock the driver's door with the metal key, open the trunk manually from the inside, then shut the trunk. And voilà! It resets the remote. I learned that with a VW Passat I had years ago.

I have keyless entry and opening or closing the door from touching the handle works only a few times after I turned the car on. After I turn it off and wait a few moments it doesn't work anymore. Do you have any idea why?

I don't know much about keyless entry, as my car does not have it. The only thing I know is that I did not retrofit it, because people were complaining on forums that it is very unreliable.

How to open an Audi with the metal key

Metal key is locked into fob with a small button. Press that button and you can pull the metal key. Insert it into door lock and rotate (I think counterclockwise). This should unlock driver door.

One key fob for my 2005 A4 3.0 Tdi Quattro SE Tiptronic failed. I changed the battery and it would transmit but would not unlock the car. I booked it into Grimsby Audi for reprogramming, but the mechanic found that all he needed to do was to insert the key, turn the ignition on and press a button on the key, and that activated it. There was no charge for the procedure. It's a pity that method is not mentioned in the Owner's Handbook.

I've got the issue of it not opening the car. Once I stop driving I'm able to lock the car but I can't unlock it. I haven't tried disconnecting the battery in the car because I'm not sure if it will need to be programmed or not.
