I read Cien Anos two times, slowly. As a beginner in Spanish, it was like walking through mud, but I persevered. I loved the movie version because it helped me to clarify some points in the story. One series that I entirely recommend is "La Reina Del Sur". It has three seasons of about sixty episodes each. I always use the Spanish subtitles. I'm good enough at reading them now that when I watched an American series, "Dark Winds" I was able to understand what the actors were saying with the Spanish subtitles when they spoke Navajo. One other series that I recommend is "The Good Bandit". The actor who played Auriliano Buendia in Cien Anos stars in "Bandit".
@kimannzora8 күн бұрын
That's a huge undertaking as a beginner! Good for you! 🙌 Oh, I'll have to check out "The Good Bandit!" That actor was amazing- his stare alone! 😲 Thanks so much for the suggestion. 🙏

When you watch the show for the first or second one time should you slow the speed down to .75 If you are having g a difficult time following? Or is it better to listen at the normal speed? Thank you for your advice. Nothing like a good series, tea and a comfortable couch.
@kimannzora11 күн бұрын
Great question! Absolutely- slow down the speed to .75. This gives you more time to process the words and fully absorb what you’re hearing. Over time, you'll be able to listen at the normal speed. The goal is progress, not perfection-so go at your own pace! 😉 And yes, there's nothing like a juicy series, tea, and a comfy couch! ☺

This is a GREAT series for those interested in Castilian Spanish, but also includes two Latin Spanish speakers as well. There is also an Asian girl for whom Spanish is one of her many second languages. But the main guy is Jose Coronado, a famous Spanish actor with loads of great characters over his decades, but he speaks slowly and clearly. The show also has a great mix of Spanish between boomers and Gen x and millennials. And, just a great show.

Hola Kimann. I enjoyed your post. Beautiful background color, and clarity of speech. (Excellent) I am a beginner in Spanish and I feel a little intimidated to watch (Cien anos) in Spanish for now. I will view it in English first and see how I feel. I love your voice. I listened to this video 3X back to back. It's so calming!! Thanks for your suggestion.
@kimannzora8 күн бұрын
Thank you so much! 🙏 Yes, definitely watch with English subtitles first to help you understand what's going on. Practicing with TV series is a slow process because you'll have to go back and watch with Spanish subtitles, switching back and forth to write down useful words. Try that part in 20 minute chunks a day maybe, so it doesn't get overwhelming. And don't write everything, just super useful stuff! ☺
