And yet Chuck Lorre did The Impossible by destroying that dynamic and ruining the show. Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer were chosen because of their on-screen chemistry in the movie Hot Shots! Even the name Harper came from Charlie Sheen's character in that film, Harley Topper. Meanwhile, Charlie Sheen use his first name because he was basically playing himself, while Alan is a scramble of "anal" because of his personality.
