Although I always try to stay level-headed, these kinds of prices radicalize me into loving Japan! The fact that it’s not impossible to find places for 200-300 USD (or even lower sometimes) while still looking decent- is truly commendable! It feels bittersweet to know this exists and is, in fact, real! After having lived in cities where you’re lucky to find anything below 800-1,000 USD, with salaries considered "good" if they exceed 10 USD/hour (which they usually don’t-and I’m not joking), the contrast I feel is immense. Like, yes, that’s how much it’s supposed to cost. All the power to Japan in that department! 200-400 USD for a decent place in a city that isn’t car-dependent, feels relaxed, and isn’t overcrowded (Fukuoka has a population of 1.5 million people, if I remember correctly)-does it get better than that? And I’ve seen the same prices for apartments in Japan in stunningly beautiful cities surrounded by nature, mountains, water, and so on. It almost feels like a slap in the face sometimes, tbh Now, of course, there are plenty of problems with these cities too-I’m pretty sure. But oh lord, in most other places, you have the same, if not worse, problems while being stuck with abysmal salaries and having to feel "grateful" for paying 1,000 USDー What a joke! And I’m not even bringing out the big guns, like places that charge 5,000 USD/month for something that’s just "okay. Sorry for the rent (hehe ;) ), we are strong, and we will succeed !!!

kobe city prices are comparable to tokyo unless you live in an inconvenient area, but osaka is pretty cheap outside of the city center and the trains are more convenient than kobe, and you can get to kobe in an hour or less. We chose the Osaka, Kobe, Kyoto area to move because our youngest has a health problem and there are multiple hospitals nearby that cater to her diagnosis, including the children's hospital in Kobe (which is why I'm intimate with their prices lol). My husband's issue with these cheaper places (as a Japanese) is that the buildings are old and he doesn't want to fix anything xD Our house in the US is old so he's over the DIY thing now LOL, he just wants to move in and be done.

All of it is caused by supply and demand, these houses are so cheap in Japan because its population is dying while houses stay empty.
@jacqueslee259210 күн бұрын
@@thirdbrother4018 That is the case, but also Japanese do not profit from housing like Americans and do not seek to make money off housing. For Americans, housing is seen as an investment that you will make money from. Japanese do not have this mentality in regards to housing.

There's plenty to do in Fukuoka, and also interesting places to visit in the area. Take a train to Yanagawa, and ride a boat around the canals; a kotatsu bune in winter is nice with friends and a bottle of warm _sake._

Lots of great vintage shops too that have a cheaper and better selection than in say Shibuya or Osaka.

Under 200$? or 190$ with no washing machine no fridge, no stove or cooker not even a microwave, no central heating, and a really small bathroom. There is so much space in the entrance room you would consider they could make the bathroom bigger, but most places for rent have this bad design. Remind yourself that you will also have to pay for utilities that you consume each month, plus food or clothes then if your job payment isn't high enough I believe you will waste most of it just on living expenses.
@BaronVonSTFU14 күн бұрын
Have you ever lived on your own? What are you expecting exactly from an apartment? You can buy most of the stuff listed second hand for very cheap. You will not find central heating or ac in Japan. You aren't going to find a fully furnished apartment for cheap either. A one time payment for all the stuff you need to buy will still be much cheaper than paying for an apartment that comes with those things. I lived in Saitama outside of Tokyo and paid 50,000 a month and still had to supply all the appliances. That's just how it's done.
@UniDeathRaven9 күн бұрын
for 200$ you better stfu lmao, its dirt cheap
@moda78z9 күн бұрын
Lmao 🤣😂 it sounds like you’ve never lived by yourself. You think all of that is usually included in the rent? Ofc you have to pay separately for that! Seriously? In my country, a stove and fridge are always included, but I don’t have a washing machine and if I want one, I have to buy one! Shocker 😮🤣 He’s talking about the RENT, and it’s very cheap and a decent size. It’s not perfect, but not everyone can afford perfect. I sure can’t!
@njrom29756 күн бұрын
They have different weather and they have different culture . Not always in Japan it snows it’s closer to the pacific. Many Japanese hang their clothes to dry. Unlike in the west most apartments even houses are fully furnished. But not in Japan
