One of the most brillian investing advice i have ever gotten on youtube came from watching an interview with Julianne Iwersen Niemann. Indeed, A solid investment strategy is like a well-planted tree-it can withstand storms and still grow strong
@TianaManeO12 күн бұрын
That's great advice! Julianne Iwersen Niemann's perspective on investments as a long-term growth strategy, much like a well-planted tree, is a solid analogy. A good investment strategy should be resilient enough to endure market fluctuations while still growing over time. It's essential to have a strong plan that balances risk and reward, much like cultivating a tree that thrives even in tough conditions. Working with a seasoned expert like Julianne can help ensure your financial decisions lead to sustainable growth.

her name is 'JULIANNE IWERSEN NIEMANN'. Just research the name. You'd find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment.

I've always looked on BRK as a fund with zero fees or charges.

I've always looked at it as a single stock. And with all single stocks it has single stock risk

BRKB can certainly vote and attend the annual meeting. The vote is just 1/10,000 less that an A share vote…the proxy statement spells it all out for you. 2022 proxy page 3 of 18.

I noticed during periods of increased market fear, BRK.B investment often increases making it part of the portfolio that could be sold in times of emergency. Otherwise, it is part of intergenerational plan, tax efficient and qualifying for step up basis. Well diversified. Markel was tempting, but BRK.B is the stalwart. I am concerned about how insurance will transform with increased claims with increases in natural disasters and the impact of autonomous vehicles. They seem to be maximizing profits on rail, petroleum, while investing in the future, such as renewable energy. Well-diversified.

Replies aren't working so I'll try at the main level. Apple is not 40%+ of Berkshire's valuation. It is BRK's publicly held stocks that Apple is 42% of. Their publicly held stock portfolio is around $367B while BRK has $1T in total assets of which $120B is cash. Apple is maybe 15% of BRK's entire holdings.

Why buy Berkshire when you can buy Apple directly? It seems to me when Buffet talks he'd own as much Apple as he can get

In Switzerland there is not taxes on capital appreciation. But you do get taxed on dividends.. Would it make sense for a Swiss investor to put money into BRK-B? Is it tax efficient is there or is there something else I am forgetting?

No dividend but also no expense ratio for being actively managed.
@johngill28532 жыл бұрын
No expense ratio? You mean it doesn't have a stated expensive ratio It cost money to run a company the size of Berkshire Hathaway. Do you think them offices and payroll cost nothing?

I wish you focused on answering the question and didn’t go into the different share explanation. Is it a good long term investment for retired people over other investments like VOO, QQQ, because it is more defensive with less volatility.

2:02 i just looked at a random search result and it says it's portfolio is 40% Apple. if true... diversified fund? i'd consider it as your own apple holding and a separate diversified fund.

If your are still reading this, BRB-B or SCHD
@robs2579Ай бұрын
Both, those are my top 2 positions for a reason. SCHD is also typically approved by banks for equity collateral loans and has a lower risk profile; banks feel more comfortable lending *more* to you for having SCHD over SPY or QQQ, since SCHD has diversification and a dividend premium that hedges off the variable rate interest exposure. Banks see it as less risky and a plus since not many market weight etfs have both price appreciation & strong dividend. What other ETFs out there have this neat feature to function as both equity and debt, without having to sell your shares??!

Question: What happens when Buffet and Munger "disappear"? Aren't they the ones making all the good decisions? Is it realistic to believe they could disappear in the next 10 years, considering their age? Then what happens to the fund?

Berkshire is run in a decentralized manner with the managers running the day to day affairs. Ajit Jain and Greg Abel run the day to day operations.

Rob. - appreciate the video. Can you dive into BRK PE of around 50. Seems like a Cathy wood stock to me. I’ve looked at filings and don’t see the issue.
@rob_berger2 жыл бұрын
You can't really rely on the PE with BRK. Remember, new accounting rules require it to report profits and losses on stock holdings, even if they are unrealized. The last quarter saw significant "losses" due to the decline in the stock market.

The B shares do have voting rights. Obviously the A shares have more power in voting.
