it's almost as if virgil went to the light sides to first get thomas' attention. not to be friends. then the othets started to accept him, and he let go of the other plan. he left deceit and remus, as he felt more appreciated and accepted. he forgot that the main plan was for all of them to be accepted. so now deceit and remus are mad, and are using other ways to get thomas to see them

I think the Dark sides are probably just parts of Thomas he won't accept. So they're called the dark sides and seen as the baddies. so them having a plan to be accepted honestly it's a great theory and i see great potential for it to possibly be cannon

Small Headcanon!: Because Deceit is ya know, Deceit, he encompasses all lies. All of the Sides have their flaws, Logan being that he needs to know that Logic isn’t always the answer, Patton that his beliefs are sometimes too strong, Roman and his White and Black view of the world, etc. what if Deceit’s is that he’s too gullible? He believes every lie that he’s told, because, since he is Deceit, he cannot tell when someone is lying or telling the truth. He’s been mixed up for so long that in others, he just isn’t able to tell.

Melodie Gaster But doesn't he say in the selfishness vs selflessness that " It takes a liar to know a liar " when roman was basically siding with deceit but kept on covering that up 'cause he doesn't to be seen siding with the "bad guy" (Even to somewhat admitting to doing such at the end.) It seems that it's easier for him to spot a lie. Actually more or less seems that all dark sides are able to see through lies easier.

Melodie Gaster Well no... I was thinking, maybe Deceit is able to see through other people's lies but maybe not some of his. Put it this way you know how Deceit generally flirts with the other sides. He obviously is manipulating them (or annoying vigil) there isn't much proof to back this up but it might possible that he can't really tell whether a relationship is strong or fake, like say when you think you might lose a friend or someone you love. You would want to keep them, Now, if the relationship ends, you might pretend like it was nothing but a little pebble on the road but you do feel still sad. (This does depend on the person though, but I think Deceit would definititly be that person) What I was thinking was that maybe Deceit has convinced himself that he was never really friends with Vigil and that it was a lie. ( this doesn't go to great with this, but it does follow the lines of Thomas' episodes, I think, of course there not much evidence so this isn't much a theory) So yes, he is somewhat gullible. He might have a blurred line between who he finds to be friends or foes, possibly maybe he doesn't even know the line between who he wants to be enemies and who he wants to friends with.

I love how the strings represent connection, whether it be romantic or plutonic. Through the song it shows Deceit's string connected to Remus and Virgil, but at the end it shows his string hanging loose not connected to anything. Then in good for you it is like he is forcing them to be connected but in the process he is choking them out. Virgil sees him doing this and frees the other sides. In this I see Deceit as someone that just wants to be included. I think he just doesn't understand and tries to hide it by the only thing he knows how to do. Lie. What he is doing is wrong but I love a villian that you can simpathise with. Love the animatic

Lemme sum this up so I can read it later when I come back: The ‘wire’ at first is wanting to stay and Deceit being more eccentric. Virgil starts to drift and Remus is angry, he’s actually seen yelling at Virge, but Deceit holds him back. Remus kind of replaces Virgil. Deceit and Virgil now start to fight, but Deceit wants him back. The wire has actually morphed into the light sides, and his emotional attachment has manifested into him and makes him stay. NoW DeCeIt iS AnGeR.

i love the way you interpreted the lyrics in this animatic! the way it turns around, first virgil is the bird that doesn't dare fly away, but at the end, virgil flies away to join the main sides, leaving deceit on the wire. the way you linked the lyrics to their story is really smart and effective, and this animatic has some super compelling story telling. love it, love it, love it!

Here let me explain how I think this all happened. Remus , Deceit and Virgil were "friends". Remus wasn't as responsible for all this but he was still a part of this. I guess they pressured little Virgil to stay with them but Virgil was so drawn to the light sides. Finally, Deceit let him go out but just to investigate and stuff. Remus and Deceit were like Virgil's parents. Virgil trusted Remus just a little more. Even though I guess Deceit mentally abused Virgil, deep inside he loved him very much. Virgil didn't know this. Remus and Deceit expected for Virgil to come home normal and just giving them general information of what was going on over there. Virgil came back later than expected. The sides, Roman, Patton and Logic embraced him. they made Virgil happy and feel loved. Deceit and Remus also loved him but they didn't exactly show it. Virgil had changed. He was happier and wanted to go back. As a result Deceit got mad and didn't want Virgil to go, because as I said he truly loved him. Remus got mad and refused to speak or look at Virgil. He wanted revenge despite loving Virgil too. Virgil escaped. Free. He had been mentally scarred. He didn't want the other sides to know he was a dark side. He gets along with them. Grows on them. Loves them like a family. Deceit realized how much he truly and deeply loved Virgil. He wanted him back. Tried to convince him to go back. Remus still wanted revenge. As I said many times, they both loves him a lot. Deceit stopped Remus from getting his so-called revenge. Deceit has a plan. To get his Virgil back. He messed up, and now he's trying to fix his mistakes.
