I wish I had his cutting table. Glad to have a new video.

You might be able to get a board shear from Ernest Schaeffer in Union NJ. Good luck and thanks for watching.

I’ve also been thinking about how wonderful that cutting table is! That blade seems quite sharp!

Awesome to watch your process! I really appreciate you taking me through your thoughts and outlining what you're doing it as you do it. Can't wait for the next part!

Hi Sage, this video is helping me so much with a special album I’m creating as a gift. I was wondering if you’d be willing to make a video of how you created those end papers? I’d be happy to tip you for taking the time (and effort)! :-)

Love your end paper. You said you made it? I'd love a video on how I can make some. Is the surface flat? Or can you feel the lines? Thanks.
@Ceropegia4 жыл бұрын
It is a paste paper, We did a lot of them for many years, You can see a sample book online on my main website www.sagereynolds.com . The lines are not raised, the only texture you feel is that of the Arches Text Laid which is no longer made. My paper tapestries are also made with our paste papers. The designs have also been used to make woven and printed fabrics. The papers themselves have been used on boxes, my folding screens, murals and countless invitations. I have a video of me making papers, but it was not shot as a demonstration, I could edit and put it up here but I will have to find it again. You can see a number of the projects on the above website except for the murals and invitations ( some of which may be in the binding videos, I make a silver striped paper covered box in a video that is already here on KZbin). Thanks for your question and thanks for watching.

P.S. The video of my Show at Wagner has a lot of the new "Domestic Sized" Paper Tapestries in it.

@@Ceropegia Thanks, I love book arts. As a kid in elementary school. I was the art teacher's assist. After handing out materials. I'd go in the back supply room and had access to everything. I use to make small books with inlaid Canson ingres colored papers. Thanks!

As always…there are those [sneaky] little nuances of process that delight. No I didn't know to brush a little PVA onto the spine to hold a sewn binding, or which element to paste to which to allow for shrinkage and etc. Thank you so much!

Sage, can you explain why/when you used wheat paste, and when you used PVA? What governs your choices?
@Ceropegia4 жыл бұрын
Hi Lorraine, Paste and adhesives like PVA differ in their drying times. Glue, PVA and other adhesives are a "quick tack". Pastes made from plant materials like rice and wheat are slow tacks, so they are used to apply leather, soften spine glues in repairs, making end papers, casing-in and other jobs where you have time to make adjustments or need time to accomplish the job. PVA , Glues and other adhesives are used when you are making cases, covering boxes, lining spines and other jobs where you have sure placement of parts and won't need to adjust the parts to finish the task. That's it in a nutshell. Thanks for watching and thank you for Tipping the Tutor, I really appreciate it in these days of Lock Down. If you have time, visit my Instagram @sagereyn and @sages_silver (where there is a 20% off sale this week until December 21)

@@Ceropegia Thank you. Very clear; your explanation printed and filed. There are many 'crafters' on line doing tutorials, and they are fun - but you are easily the best online tutor out there, for high-quality bookmaking and boxes. Hope we keep seeing you from time to time!

I didn't know that you could make wheat paste without heating it up. That's the only way that I've known to make wheat paste. You're method looks a lot easier!
@Ceropegia4 жыл бұрын
Cooked paste is usually for restoration work, rice and wheat. The cold mix is what touse tio install wall paper, it's the go to for making made ends and casing-in. Thanks for watching.

Hello. Please tell me what kind of glue you need to use? When I apply my PVA glue, my workpieces are deformed, and the paper is almost not smoothed. Thanks

Please watch my Glue and Roller Basics Video. All and more are answered there. My PVA is "#22 cold flex glue" from Ernest Schaeffer in Union NJ. you need to show me the deformity and not smoothed paper for me to help. Thanks for watching.
