Two Bodyboarders ride shallow barrels that break straight onto a rock shelf

It's very tempting to creep into a deeper take-off on this wave. But just a couple of feet too far and you will be taken for a bloody joyride across a barnacle-covered rock slab. Fortunately for these two bodyboarders they erred on the side of caution. Patience paid dividends as they were able to sneak out of some crisp morning barrels - then make it home in time for bacon and eggs.

With everything that's going on in the world right now, there's nothing like getting into some waves and surf to take us away from it all. Self-isolation in some deep barrels is a valid way of social distancing!
I love exploring new waves in new locations and I love bring my viewers along my journey. Sometimes it get's sketchy as some of the waves I surf (shallow reefs, dry reefs, deep ocean slabs) get pretty gnarly. Once in my life have i caught empty waves like this, just me and my good friend, swapping wave after wave,, NOBODY OUT ..... 2002 shell oil complex, Ventura cal. it was firing everywhere, so nobody thought to check out that relatively unbidden spot. A dolphin with multiple rows of razor sharp teeth and vertical tail...the way that moved was def shark like and the setting too... Solo close to the reef... I've seen shark hunt like this several times.

@@avocaboys7829 Dolphins dont hang out alone close to a reef and that thing certainly did not move like a dolphin. It just turned and dove with the swell. This is typical shark hunting ground. I've had the pleasure of seeing this enough times with my own eyes.

It was definitely a shark since the dorsal fin isnt raked like you would see on a dolphin, whereas a shark is just a right angle triangle
