this by far, is the best and original version. more of a true country sound than the other version.
@marshalllanier3602 жыл бұрын
Zella Lehr had a pretty good version of it as well

I always thought that, when they reissued HERE YOU COME AGAIN on CD, they should have included this version as a bonus track.

Thank you so much for sharing this! It’s the version I remember listening to as a kid; last heard it probably 1983 or so. I couldn’t believe my ears when I hit the track on the Spotify album, thought I’d gone nuts til I found out about the single rework replacing this original. Now I don’t have to fetch those old platters out of the attic to enjoy this song. Cheers!

I have mentioned many of my comments I never ever been country music fan when I came to Canada I lived in country side . All I hear country music . Some reason working 9to 5 This a song inspired me credit goes to Dolly Parton

Thanks, Julian! Haven't heard this version in almost 40 years.

Thank you for this. Why they had to remix it, leaving out the second verse, into an inferior version is beyond me. They even changed it on the "Here You Come Again" album. Makes no sense.

I believe this is the original (unreleased) version, written by Dolly in 75 or 76. Zella Lehr originally released it as a single in 1977 Dolly released it a year later in 78, and the verse was missing. Dolly's record label, Columbia, later released this version.
@JulianAnderson1202 жыл бұрын
It was released on the guest pressing of here you come again album, age also sang it on the special, Cher, Dolly and Rod Stewart

Ben G. Milligan Dolly definitely did it, and she did it well. But I’d say Patsy Cline did it first.

Love this version, but I prefer the reworked version that was released to pop radio stations back in 1978. The reworked version has a more rock / funk feel to it.
@JulianAnderson1203 жыл бұрын
Everyone has their own preferences I guess, I truly think when they took a few verses out of this song they ruined it but that's just me
@jhughes47653 жыл бұрын
@@JulianAnderson120 Yep...Thank God we're not all the same! I honestly think the added bridge and horns made the radio version sound like a party with George Clinton & Parliament and Mahalia Jackson. Totally loved it...Probably my favorite Dolly song!

Dolly Parton was too pretty to get big breast. She needed no compensation for her natural beauty. Unfortunately she didn't see it that way.
