Mr. Jeppsen, the inventor of Malort, actually had a condition where his taste buds barely worked. He formulated it specifically in an attempt to create something he could actually taste. Apparently it was one of the few things he could taste

In 1994 at the age if 20 my crew who were all older took me to my first strip club (Lenrocks in Cleveland) I'd never had alcohol but was a beer drinker. They ordered a bunch of shots and we toasted, the fire in my chest was amazing I'd never felt anything like that before. I instantly asked for another, and they were all shocked. That was the night I fell in love with Bacardi's 151 I loved it so much I'd get a double with a chaser of Jack once I hit 21, the best part is that bartenders who buy my drink combo just to watch me drink them. I miss 151 but it's okay cause Moonshine is now everywhere and that'll get you going.
