THIS VIDEO IS A RECONSTRUCTION OF THE FOLLOWING SITUATION IN FLIGHT:
06-DEC-2023. A First Class Air Raytheon Hawker 800XP (H25B), registration N277RS, performing flight ERY277 from Vero Beach Regional Airport, FL (USA) was at 25000 feet, about 50 miles south of Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, GA (USA) when the pilots declared an emergency, reported smoke in the aircraft and requested to divert to Savannah. Meanwhile, there was an aircraft on approach, an Envoy Air Embraer E175LR (E75L), registration N222NS, performing flight ENY3492 / MQ3492 from Miami International Airport, FL (USA) to Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, GA (USA) that reported critical amount of fuel and said that they were gonna be an emergency aircraft as well. Later ENY3492 said that they had not declared minimum fuel but the air traffic controller declared an emergency for them.

HOW I DO VIDEOS:
1) I monitor media, airspace, looking for any non-standard, emergency and interesting situation.
2) I find communications of ATC unit for the period of time I need.
3) I take only phrases between air traffic controller and selected flight.
4) I find a flight path of selected aircraft.
5) I make an animation (early couple of videos don’t have animation) of flight path and aircraft, where the aircraft goes on his route.
6) When I edit video I put phrases of communications to specific points in video (in tandem with animation).
7) Together with my comments (voice and text) I edit and make a reconstruction of emergency, non-standard and interesting situation in flight.

I was the pilot of the emergency Hawker. I just want to say thanks to the professionalism and quick work from ATC getting us right to the numbers and on the ground as fast as they did. Savanah was a welcome sight.

How do you get to approach critical fuel and just continue on the way until its an emergency? Go land at your damn alternate to avoid an emergency. So, that if there is an emergency that isn't pilot induced, those resources are available.

and this is what happens when airlines refuse to enforce sop in declaring emergencies and just humph and haw and keep everybody guessing over whether they're an emergency or not or whether they've even really declared an emergency! Listening to British mayday SOPs should be part of the training for US pilots!

Minimum fuel and emergency fuel are two different things defined in most SOP’s. So that’s why they didn’t declare a fuel emergency.

@@saxmanb777 that is true but basically every american pilot seems to declare an emergency that way. In this specific case it would be a PAN-PAN-PAN.
