Thank you so very much for telling everyone to “pack it out!” I cannot tell you how much disgusting stuff has to be hauled out of our National Forest by volunteers using grant money because some people are horrible. I have to say Robin that this is got to be my favorite channel on youtube. You're editing and narration skills are top notch and I love the way you share this invaluable RV travel knowledge unselfishly! Kudos to you for all your efforts 😘. I am currently living in a 27 ft travel trailer in an RV park and it's pretty inexpensive for the location, however, my goal was to find a small drivable RV and do what you're doing - but I really don't want to do it alone.

This seriously could not have come at a better time, so thank you so much!! 🤗 I'm currently in your home state of Colorado, where I'm finding that the RV parks (and campgrounds) here are both super duper expensive and all booked up!!😲 So, after 3 years on the road (and only boondocking because I meet up with people who give me their coordinates), I'm finally learning how to do this on my own 🤓 In fact, I'm at my 1st self sourced spot and I have to move in 2 days...and now you've given me some wonderful information to help find my next place to go 😁👍 Yeah, Creativity RV to the rescue 💕

I've lived in Bishop for several years. I'm not being snotty but just an FYI, I asked Mr Schat how to pronounce his name. It's pronounced "shots". So you can sound like a local 😉. Thank you for your videos. I learn new stuff all the time. Didn't know about the usland app. I've been full time for three weeks now and that will hopefully really help. Hard to find places to park this year. Best to you and Doug.

Funny how everybody is on the exact same wavelength this week. Every video that I’ve watched on all the channels that I watched have talked about where to camp. If only all of you would have put your videos up three weeks ago, I wouldn’t of had to pay for camping in California all the way up the coast! I was told in more than one place that dispersed camping was now out could not do it in the entire state of California. One of the places that I camped was Lake Tahoe. I did get away with one night in a forest Tahoe national Forest. But was scared to death the entire night because I wasn’t sure if I could be there. I ended up paying $21 to park in a parking lot of a campground that was completely full because they don’t allow dispersed camping anymore. This was on Lake Tahoe. So for $21 I had a beautiful view of the lake. But I was in a parking lot which is the point. Robin this was an amazing video I absolutely loved this video. I want to go to the exact areas that you talked about in this particular video. I wanted to go out to 395 but was talked out of it by somebody who lived in California. Telling me all the 395 has nothing on it. So I ended up going up the five whichReally has nothing on it!. Thank you for sharing this I am definitely going to download that app. By the way, it was my very first trip in my mini van. Finding a place to park was very stressful. Had to leave it in God’s hands. He never let me down. Yay! Now, because of your video I’ll have more tools in the toolbox of being on the road.

The Eastern Sierra's are a jewel. I grew up in the Ridgecrest/ China Lake area. As a kid, I loved going to Walker's Pass to sled in winter, Robber's Roost for picnicking and scurrying around on the rocks. As a teenager I camped many times at Mammoth but not before stopping at Schat's for Sheepherder's bread. Hwy 395 has improved over the years. In 1970 it was 2 lanes 90% of the way to Reno! The Walker River area farther north on hwy 395 was devastated by a flood in the mid 90's. The canyon is just beginning to come back...still beautiful!

Wife and I met in Mammoth in 1971 and Schat's was the place to go. The Condo boom was just starting to take off. At that time the Old Mammoth meadow was completely empty. We still love the area.

I was very fortunate having seen enjoyed and fished these mountain areas in the 60s & 70s which were more beautiful then than they are now. (so sad). Man has stripped so many forest. Hey, thanks for such a positive review of the camping and resources along 395! I’ve been camping and fishing between the Ridgecrest turn off (HWY 178) and Lee Vining, north of Mammoth since 1964! My uncle and my Dad were fabulous outdoorsmen and taught us respectful use of the land as children. We arrived early enough to gather trash, in and around the site, before we set up camp and left early enough to do so again after we tore down the camp. The area of clean up expanded as we grew, always included my Dad’s beautiful baritone, singing songs that were just enough on the wild side that my Mum gave him pointed looks but not far enough that she’d shut him down, and plenty of laughter and good memories. Can’t wait to purchase my new rig and hit the road again, SOON!!!!
