If you stop at a Walmart in a small town overnight, please remember not to leave containers with human waste in the parking lot or cat hairballs in shopping carts. There are surveillance cameras in the parking lots and the local politicians that make the zoning laws do not like their family members that work at those Walmarts cleaning up behind you. I worked at a small town Walmart and had to do parking lot clean up. And please don't walk your dog and not clean up the poop. Children may step in it.

I’m very glad you mentioned that semi trucks only have one option…spots designated for tractor trailers. Thank you for mentioning that you don’t take those spots up with campers and other vehicles that might fit somewhere that a semi can not. Commercial drivers are exhausted and their hours of operation are federally regulated. There is a shortage of parking for trucks in this country and it’s partly responsible for the danger that we all face on our highways.

@@ocny4468 It’s like Robin said, you get there early enough to park NOT in one of their long spots, you park off in a corner or along the sidewalk or anywhere where you can fit, because you’re smaller, and they couldn’t.

@@ocny4468 Yup, you’re absolutely right! That size really has no choice but to take a trucker’s spot and as Robin has said, rather than drive tired, that’s what needs doing. Nobody is saying that a trucker’s spot should be taken willy nilly, only if necessary.

Michael, I'm sorry to hear that - as an SUV cross country transporter, the app has been a lifesaver for me finding safe places to overnight with my cargo and service dog (not in the truck parking areas!!). Bird watcher here - Always so glad for your videos! My rig is a van, so I hadn't found Trucker apps useful, but you just pointed out a very important issue - the visitor's centers and lookouts aren't always on Google maps.
@src44093 жыл бұрын
I keep hearing and seeing people say don't put out your slides, but we quickly realized that our new rig doesn't have any access to one of the beds UNLESS we put our main slide out. We also have 2 dogs that have to be kept separated because they decided they both want to be alpha, and there's no room to put one of them unless we put our bedroom slide out. We're also 43' plus our truck and don't fit into most "rv" designated places. We have to use trucker pumps just so we can fill def fluid in our truck and then we have to find a truck stop gas station that can accommodate our size just to fill up our generator tank. Because of all of these rules I keep hearing I felt like our maiden trip was so stressful and that we were doing everything wrong. Sometimes there's just no other option for people but to do what they are only able to do. Vehicle trouble, traveling with kids and dogs can mean your plans don't always go as planned and you are forced to stay in a parking lot. I think as long as you don't overstay your welcome, aren't obnoxious, and try to be courteous you're going to be fine.
@Andy-Mesa3 жыл бұрын
When you decide to get a rig that big you're making a lot of decisions about where you can and can't stay/drive/park etc. My biggest requirement when getting an RV was that I wanted to be able to park anywhere, and even at 21' I still think I'm a bit over what I'd like to be.
