I appreciate the separateness. A D.I. really should be the very last part of the chain after everything. It can be done with a $30 D.I. box, or you can get specialized with something like a DSM & Humboldt Bass Simplifier.

The harmonic booster seems like a really advanced onboard preamp. I’m looking to find something to make my passive Jaguar bass “active” without having to mod/add an onboard preamp. The price is pretty steep for the Darkglass, so I may go with a much cheaper option like a TC Spark. Great video!

I have a Jaguar bass and i have upgraded it into an active bass using a J Retro pre amp from John East. Literally unscrew the control plate and screw in the new one ( the pick up wires are no soldering/just screw in) Easy. I do have the harmonic booster too but use that near the end of the signal chain. So the booster will give you what you need for sure, though the John east Pre is cheaper and easy to fit... and sounds great!

Wasn’t expecting to hear a 10,000 Days riff in here, nice. I already have the BDDI v2, so a harmonic booster would make for a nice broad EQ shaping tool on top of it.

Thank you. I have the Bass Fly Rig and the Sansamp portion is basically the same as the VT Bass. I had a feeling the character knob sort of acted as a second mid control. I see that's sort of right.

The character knob's supposed to sweep from SVT through Flip Top and other Ampeg amp sounds.

Good review mate! Just subscribed! How do you record this sick tone? Direct to the Focusrite using the pedals or are you using an amp/the pedals with a mic? Also are you using any plug in? Killing tone!

I have the VT bass and I never use it because is don't like it, I use a GK rig and with GK's signature sound the VT bass doesn't perform well.

Great review.... money is a issue so i found a Darkglass Clone>>>> Demonfx Microtube D7K "Bass" Preamp.....what do you think of this pedal for RUSH/YES tone on budget ?....maybe a review in future.

Boycott darkglass for their ridiculous price ranges,,,,everybody that wants the same at a fraction of the price demonfx makes clones that are exactly the same!!!!
