If you extend the top link on your tractor so the Landplane is making flat contact with the ground you'll get an even better finish. The gravel should be rolling over the last crossbar on the Landplane when doing finish work.

Glad you’re back safe. Place is looking beautiful. I wanted to suggest maybe getting a receiver hitch for the front of your truck for those times when you need to pull something heavy and you have no turnaround room. I put one on and they’re about $130 and they bolt right up to your frame in the front.
@MountainBeaches11 ай бұрын
Great suggestion. I’ve never heard of a front ball for a truck but was thinking of one for the tractor forks.
@winfordwatts304911 ай бұрын
When you are using your land plane to smooth your roads; I suggest you screw out your top link on your 3 point hitch which will cause the back blade to touch the ground, it should set on your road level (front to back) you will get better results. My wife and I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the good work!

Another option for lifting stuff beyond your loader capacity is get a 3 point pallet fork frame for the rear of the tractor. The 3 point can lift a lot more than the loader; my tym is about 1000# more. I got a scratch and dent one from titan attachments for mine.

Good job Norm! I would say after your base layer of rock is good and solid I would cap it off with some clean rock(no minus stuff) so you get rid of the mud and minus dust tracking into the barn. My two cents.

Regarding the groundwork and the gravel. I have noticed on a lot of the Idaho homesteader videos that if you dont put a ground fabric under the stones, when you get your mud seasons the stones sink into the mud and you need several more inches of stones including a base of larger stones to avoid mud coming up thru them.
@MountainBeaches11 ай бұрын

If you encounter other items in the 2500 pound range, 3 point forks on the back of the tractor will typically lift more than the front arms. Trees are beautiful, and really enjoy seeing the deer.

Agree with the other comment and leave the outside furnace where it is. Winter won't hurt it since no water is it. Also, you might want to check on your battery storage because if those are lithium ioions, they do not do well being stored in cold temps. Love your videos.

Its final resting spot is inside. This is a wood boiler that is approved for indoor use 😀. Also the batteries will be fine stored in cold temps. They operate better in warmer temps but storing them will be fine.

The JCB ones can be fitted with a snowblower and its a forklift plus a bucket earth gravel mover it can also get an auger to dig holes for foundations or putting up a new fence great multi task bit of kit SOME OF JCB ONES CAN HANDLE OVER 8000 POUNDS . THIS WOULD BE GREAT NORM JUST SWEET TALK KIM .YES YOU MADE Z BIG MASSIVE MISSTAKE YOU SHOULD HAVE CHECKED FOR ANY DAMAGED SOLAR PANELS IF YOUR LUCKY IT WILL BE OK IF ANY DAMAGED WILL YOU STILL BE ABLE TO CLAIM FOR IT OR HAVE YOU LEFT IT TO LONG. You really need to lower the back of your land plane as it was designed to be used bud. What you perceive as level is actually very uneven and if you let the implement work as intended it will produce a level surface.

Sorry solar panels don't heat up like that and the sun is not out long enough in winter to charge your batters so you look for some wind power to help or a big backup generator I have watched lots of Homestead videos that they have solar and they hug panel setups to make enough power in summer for there house and yet during the winter they all are back up generator or on the grid because solar great if you have good back up if don't its suck and for me I will never go to solar for my power too much money for so little you get out of it
@MountainBeaches11 ай бұрын
Hey Wade thanks for the input. Actually solar panels work exactly like that. As you push current through a diode, as is a solar cell, the cell will heat up and the snow will melt. When factoring in the cost of getting power from the grid to our property, solar was not much more so it’s a huge win not having an electric bill or worrying about the grid. Yes there are times we will have to supplement our power needs with a generator, we realize that and are planning for it. We also realize solar isn’t for everyone but it makes perfect sense for us. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

@rixtrix1111 ай бұрын
I noticed in the video where you graded on front of the barndo, you left the mud from the "lake" in place. You will need to dig all that crappy topsoil out, fill and compact it with good substrate in 6" lifts to slightly above the surrounding dry soil. Re-grade the slope even further away from the barndo and put fabric down under the rock. You may even consider digging a swale at the far end of the area to 34:30 help drain any water away. Your landplane still isn't far enough down in the back. When you get that rear blade working as good as the front, you'll cut your grading time probably to less than half. I grew up in a large farming family with 5 uncle's who farmed too and used similar equipment(just much larger). You'll get it figured out, just takes practice.
