God bless you for this video. Much more cause you’re Nigerian I guess. So I can relate easily with the tools. I am looking to make something like this for my art project

I have an 80 watt CO2 laser engraver, I have been laser engraving since 1996. lol it never occured to me that cast acrylic could be manually engraved. You gave me a whole new acrylic art perspective. I have an engraving pen on my desk that I have never used for over 10 years. I love the two stage flashing displays you have created by hand. Thank you for sharing. Ive been trying to figure out how to make my own customized light strips for my framed pieces. You gave me the info and inspiration I needed to push me to try my new ideas. Thank You! I wish you the very best in Life! Good Sir. Subscribed.

Cool video. I wanted to share a trick I came up with doing something similar. Because the LED devices are wider than a sheet of acrylic you can stack 2 sheets on their edge on the addressable LED strips. Then you selectively mask, using black electrical tape for example, the edge of one or the other sheet of the acrylic. You can then program the addressable LEDs to drive the color you want to the positions that aren't masked. Works like a charm. If you want more light, buy the strips with more LEDS per meter. Last point, the display is brightest when viewed from the alternate side from the one you etched. People won't notice the 2 layers are a couple mm apart, but they will notice the change in brightness as it switches back and froth.

If I understand correctly, each sheet of acrylic can be assigned a unique identifier, correct --??

You can also use side lit LED strips in order to be able to put the acrylic sheets close together and/or to be able to use more than two sheets
@zivzoolander670511 ай бұрын
Side-lit and edge-lit are the same thing as far as i know. Edge-light being more specific to referring to an edge to light, where side-lit would imply any planar surface to light. The technique that he person in the video is using is edge-lit. This is because the light is being applied on an edge planar surface of the acrylic. If I'm wrong, and I have been in the past, Is possible that you might be inferring to a specific footprint ( size / package / topology ) of addressable RGB LED? If that is the case, could you leave a part number i the comment section, so others could look it up, then use it in their own builds? Thanks in advance.😄👍

I have been watching everything I can find and you are the closest I have found to what I want to accomplish. I see you have named the led strips channel one and channel two. Where are these defined in the code? If I wanted to use more channels, say a front plate which is constant and a back plate using flare; how would I run these steady while running the two frame animation in between? And, what if I wanted to do a three or five frame animation? For example: one a three frame - I would want it to run as One - two - three - two - one - two - three - two - one - two and so on?
