Kudos to the great Joe Jackson who wrote and sang the original and his fantastic bass player Graham Maby who came up with that bass line. You should really check out the original as well, it's not metal, it's new wave, but badass nevertheless.

Productive is right. When this song came out, I went to visit a friend in college and the apartment he had with his roommates was disgusting and one day while he was in class, I took it upon myself to clean the whole place. This song, on repeat and 3 hours later, the place was clean. Needless to say, he was amazed at the place and I had a new appreciation for the group and song.

I never get tired of Anthrax! I was blown away the first time I heard their music. Not the type of music I would listen to, on a daily basis, but this group had something about them and I wanted more. So glad the two of you did a reaction video to this song. 'Got the time' was a cover of a Joe Jackson song... Anthrax's 1990 album was titled 'Persistence of time', so "Got the time" was a track that fit perfectly on that record. Anthrax members said they played their version to Joe Jackson, and he replied, "My version's faster." 🤣 This was the classic version of Anthrax from 1985 to 1992 - Joe Belladonna (vocals), Scott Ian (rhythm guitar), Frank Bello (bass), Charlie Benante (drums) & Dan Spitz (lead guitar)... Today, Dan Spitz is no longer in Anthrax, Jon Donais is the current lead guitarist. I would suggest checking out more Anthrax - 'I am the Law' ... 'Indians' ... 'Be all, end all' ... This is actually a cover. Originally made by new wave singer Joe Jackson in 1979 from his album Look Sharp. This is a great cover though. Many thrash bands were big punk fans. Anthrax has made a few more punk covers like Anti-social, God save the queen, Protest and survive and Sects.

Frank Bello and Charlie Benante are the most underrated rhythm duo in thrash, toss in Scott Ian on guitar and the riffing writes itself. I'm subbed to Charlie's channel, he just uploaded a video of him and Slayer doing At Dawn They Sleep live with a drum-cam, there aren't many reactions to that song, just sayin'.

Being "from the era", the hubby and I discussed this many times in the past (not just Frank, but others as well...). As a replacement, there could be no other than the one they DID go with, Jason Newstead. As much as Cliff was a legend in his own right, and to his death, he 'Cliffed them all', there could be nobody who could replace the individual sound he brought to those first albums. Similarly, the sound was brought out with the addition of Jason. Metallica advanced to the point of Jason's departure - period. Anthrax is another animal altogether. They played in the rap arena as NY boys are wont to do. It was the scant rap that was allowed in our house.
