More Journey.....YEE! I can never get enough of Steve Perry's amazing vocals. What a fantastic group. To this day, I am still a big fan. Sad to say, I never did see them in concert with Steve. The new vocalist does an amazing job and when you close your eyes, you would think it is Steve on stage singing. Very good in concert! Journey takes me back to my teenage years. I have many great memories, when I hear their music. Thank you, my lovely girls, for this video reaction. I am sure the two of you will love their songs. Love & Blessings! 💗

That's probably my favorite Journey album (Infinity... though Escape is up there for me too), and the first one with Steve Perry. Before that they were more of a progressive rock band with Gregg Rolie on lead vocals (also the keyboard player in this song). I was bummed when he left, as although he doesn't have the vocals of Steve, I liked his singing and thought he really added something, whether singing lead or backup (check out Feeling That Way/Anytime to see what I mean. Both of those should be played back to back). That long "scream" during the solo was the singer Steve Perry. You can see him doing it in the video while standing next to the guitarist (Neal Schon).

I saw Journey during that tour in '78! (They opened for The Rolling Stones!) Every time Steve Perry sang "...wheel in the sky keeps on turning...", he would twirl his arm in a circular motion. (He had just joined the band at that point!)

Watch as Neil plays his guitar solo, Steve is next to him and holds the note as Neil plays. Lot of reactors don't catch that brilliant blend of echoed singing. There are no words to describe how Steve uses his voice. There is no one who compares.

Saw them introduce him at a small club (the Waldorff) in San Francisco in 1977, and my first response was to be put off because I loved the "old", more progressive Journey of their earliest albums. But 45 years later I recognize him as one the greatest vocalists of all time, and arguably THE greatest...................

Great reaction, great song. Thanks Juliet and Mia! I love your comments -- how you go on a journey every time with this band; how GOOD of a singer Steve Perry is; I agree Juliet - his voice is pretty; Mia noticing a scream in the guitar solo -- not sure I ever noticed that before, good ear, Mia. I think you would really enjoy their song "Lights" off of this same album. It's about where they were based -- San Francisco. Beautiful song and it was the first time the world heard Steve Perry -- first song of side 1 of his first album with Journey. Other possibilities -- "Faithfully", "Who's Crying Now", "Send Her My Love", "Feeling That Way/Anytime", "Stone in Love".

I can remember first hearing this song back in 1983 on 102.5 fm W.I.O.G. radio in my hometown of Saginaw, MI., thinking it was a brand new single. Turns out it wasn't as you stated it. it had already been 5 years old. I felt silly trying to find it at the record store under the new releases. Low and behold; it's in the discount bin ! I bought it and played it, day & night until I remembered all of the guitar chords. Excellent track!

Wheel in the Sky is from 1979 or 1980. This when Steve Perry joined Journey. Separate Ways was near the end of his time with Journey. Faithfully will bring chills , it's so mesmerizing and heartfelt. Open Arms is a heartfelt love ballad. If you want to hear his best solo work, Steve Perry released a solo album ( Street Talk) , the biggest hit showcasing his voice - Oh Sherry. He had an amazing range his nickname us The Voice.

Yes, Steve Perry's voice is iconic and will always be one of the best singers. There was a time when Steve Augeri, who sang for many bands-one of them called Tall Stories, step in and sang for Journey. If you listen to "Higher Place" off the Arrival album, you'd swear Steve Perry came back to the group.

Journey's first 'radio hit' with Steve Perry. They were a rock fusion jam band with no hits prior to Steve. The Record label said "write a radio hit, or we're dropping you". Manager brought in Steve and the band hated his voice, until the money came pouring in. The Drummer instantly quit, and Gregg Rollie stayed for 3 albums then quit. both due to Steve's new style and controlling the music direction. But mega hits and money don't lie....

Besides Open arms is a beautiful love song and Steve Perry voice is as is most. And then try the best Journey song called Don't stop believing...and never stop believing what Journey is capable to do. Nothing but great songs.
